Hello,

I started out with Cakewalk HS 2004XXL and really loved the program.  I just upgraded to Sonar 7 for it's multi-core ability, and I want to import my effects and VST's into Sonar 7.   I have a wack of effects and VST's in HS2004XXL and would like to use them in Sonar 7.  Not having much luck.

Any help would be appreciated.  Of special interest would be a VST Tutorial.  I thought there was a tutorial on the Sonar disk but am not sure.

My system info is Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit.  Hardware is a 2.0GHz Dual-Core Pentium T4200 w/ 3GB's Ram.  It also has the Audigy Advanced MB installed.  Don't know if it makes a difference, but it's a Dell Studio Laptop.

Thanks Folks,

Welcome to the forum.
Did you load HS 2004 on the new computer?

make sure sonar is seeing the folders your vsts are in first and for most.
its in preferences.just make sure your folder with all your vsts are included on the vst scan list.

next think about this...are you sure they are vsts?
because if they are DXI plug ins then your going to have to start over and look for new plug ins.
theres a whole slew of them out there for free, good ones too.

sonar h7 with its multicore support/it also doesnt support DXI plug ins anymore. which alot of the older sonar homestudio/pro audio used to use.

Hi,

I found the default folder where the VST's are, and drop all my .dll's in there and they are working.

My version of SH7 does support DXI as it has a default folder for it.
LOL.  It was actually my next question.

Do they work like the VST's and just drop them in and scan them? or is there more involved with them.

Also, anything you can tell me about surfaces would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Anything DX doesn't have to be scanned; they're just always there.
I don't know anything about surfaces. Try the Cakewalk Hardware forum.

DXis have to be installed from the installation disk. They don't get scanned like VSTs.
