So Ted, no problems with Editor in X2? I've been hesitating to install it. Thanks. Paul

Melodyne Editor is my go-to application for all sorts of repair work. I recently fixed an electric guitar track in which a few of the strings went out of tune part way through the song. Sloppy bass parts get the Melodyne treatment too. It's so much easier and with better results than AudioSnap. One of the coolest things I did with Melodyne was take an electric bass track, extract the MIDI note info and use it to play an upright bass in Kontakt. The results were excellent.

Thanks for sharing your practical applications with Melodyne Editor. I was on the fence for a while but just picked it up :)

I've used it to fix one out of tune string on an acoustic guitar playing chords. Also as someone already mentioned it can be used to turn audio into midi. I usually end up doing a good amount of editing due to miss triggered notes though.

Been working on a project with a swing/jazz band in the studio.  Was mixing yesterday and the guitar player was in the control room with me.  During one of the songs he says.... "wait....back that up and play it again".  Low and behold he had hit a major chord where a minor chord should have been in this one segment.

I pulled up the passage of the guitar track in Melodyne Editor and was able to change the major 3rd to a minor 3rd in a matter of seconds.

I had read in the Melodyne manual that this was possible, and even saw it done in a video on youtube.....but to be able to fix...not only single notes, but notes in chords...just amazes me...!

edited to fix typo.

Melodyne is the easiest way to deal with bass levels where upper octaves are much quieter or certain notes stick out more.

I think Melodyne is friggin awesome. (The "editor" version.). Many people mistakingly think it is only good for vocal corrections. How wrong that is. I once took a 15 second clip of a black bird singing, reached in melodyne, reorganized the notes and copied new ones, and had the bird sing MY song. FRiggin friggin incredible what one can do creativly with this software once you really know how to us it. Don't like a few note sin a guitar solo? Reach in and change them. Bass player screw up a riff? Fix it. Love it!

I'm always on here as the heretic who actually thinks Auto-Tune (in graphical - not auto - mode) does a better job tuning vocals with fewer artifacts than Melodyne. I still think that.

However, I recently used Melodyne to change a single note in an arppegiated guitar chord. The result was a chromatic run that really added impact to the outro of the tune I was working on.

Glad I have both installed and can use whichever one does the better job on the task at hand.

Paul,

I've had zero problems with Melodyne Editor in X2.  I've only had it for a couple of months...but it is absolutely incredible in what it can do.  I love working with it.
