I can't hear the samples even though the song is playing back normally (ie: I can hear the midi tracks playing thru synths) thanks for any help

Have you set up the Preview bus in the Browser? You can choose one from the drop down on the tab and pick the one you want to preview through. If this sin't set up it will play back samples through nothing.

If you have set that up... er... let me think a little longer about this...

You probably need to set up your preview bus. I don't have the time  at the moment to ellaborate on how as I am at work and I'm not at my DAW...maybe someone here can help out more, but I am willing to bet that is your issue...

Thanks so much guys. A simple thing, but this thing has more controls than the space shuttle! Yes, just the preview bus. Everything fine now, but I'm sure I'll be back with another issue before too long!

Aliright! Glad to hear it worked. Space shuttle you say? I'm sure those are easier to fly than Sonar is! They keep sending monkeys up in the air in space shuttles with no problems. So IMHO, you're doing great! Don't hessitate to ask if you have any more questions. People around here are usually very helpful and there are plenty of great tips and tricks if you search around a bit.
