I've got a template set up that I use to mix. When I go to export the files I have a problem getting the files named the way I want them.
 
I basically have numerous soft synths of ezDrummer set up to trigger midi files. When I export the tracks Sonar uses ezDrummer to convert the midi into wave files. I want the file naming format to simply be song name/instrument. For example song name/bass drum. This saves me time having to manually re name them all after wards. The problem is that I write the song name in the file name field on the export screen and then all the tracks get named song name/ezDrummer synth stereo 1 etc.. In other word it's naming each track based on the name of the ezDrummer track associated with it in the synth rack. I've renamed the tracks in the track window appropriately and I've even tried renaming the ezDrummer tracks in the synth rack but it still exports the files like this.
 
Is there a way to change the name of the soft synths in the synth rack so that they export with the correct names? (bass drum, snare drum etc..)

a little known fact.
if you cdeate an audio track and name it before recording to it you can give it any name you choose.

I'm exporting straight from the ezDrummer VST's (which are triggered by midi files) to wave files and I still get a name format of song name/ezdrummer 1 etc.. even though I've tried renaming the VST's in the console and the synth rack. How would I change the names of the ezDrummer VST's so that they will be recognized on export as what I've named them rather then based on their synth number? (ezDrummer 1, ezDrummer 2 etc..) I'd rather not have to bounce all the midi tracks to audio tracks, rename them all manually and then export them again for every project I do. Thanks again!

Mudgel is referring to naming the output track that the synth is associated with. That's what you need to change and then the export will pick up that and append to your export name.

That's assuming that you have "Tracks" selected as the export source (from the drop down and pane on the left of the export box)

I'm actually exporting directly from the VST's to wave files (saved in a folder on my computer). Is there some way to do what I'm trying to do without having to first bounce the VST's to named audio tracks before exporting them? I'd rather not have a bunch of extra audio tracks on my project window for bouncing purposes and would prefer to just export the tracks directly from the VST's to the wave files (saves space in my project and lessens system demand). Is there a way to get the export window to pick up the names I've given the VST's rather then calling them by their synth names? (ezDrummer 1, 2 etc..) Thanks again.

You can create audio files from soft synths without bouncing first using the export command. You could also name them at the same time but Sonar always appends a track name to the ouput file (so multiple individual tracks can be exported in one go) and that will always be the  track/synth name. Therefore to get a specified name you'd need to do them one at a time but you'd still get the appended part as well.

You can name any MIDI or Audio track, best to do it before you record it, I make that part of my templates. 
Sounds to me like your MIDI track is part of the soft synth folder track. Just drag it to a new MIDI track and name that track.
