So I take 'ol Steven up on his offer for his CLA mixing course.

They offer the project up in quite a few DAW formats. For me that means Reaper, Studio One 3 and SOANR.

Go ahead and take a guess which project will not open properly? No, not Reaper and not SO3.

Yup, SONAR reports that Slate's VMR is not found. Yet, after the project is open I can insert VMR anywhere I want, successfully.

So I look at the class ID for VMR and I search the registry for classID and guess what? It's found. Do you know what the classID is for? Yup, you guessed it.... VMR. What The Bloody Hell?

I submitted a problem report to both CW and Slate.

Maybe I should just spend the $5K and go to Wavesland for vacation this year.

<edit> Footnote: any project of mine where VMR resides opens just fine.

Sorry for your troubles Bapu!  But is the actual course itself worth the money. I've heard both good and not so good things about the it.

The course is "designed" for you to spend several hours getting acquainted with the project (which I can't do in SONAR, until either CW or Slate can fix it) and then view the videos.

So at this point I have no opinion about the course. I have an opinion of the SONAR project they provided

I could get familiar with the project in SO3 or Reaper but I'm not as adept in those DAWs as I am in SONAR. And I'm overly fixated on the fact that something is amiss with that particular project.

Is it possible that the project is looking for the 32 bit version of VMR and you only have the 64 bit version installed, and, therefore, Sonar says it's "not there"?  Just a thought...

DOH! I better check that. Yet, it wants the Red compressor and FG-X and it loads those. But maybe I have the 32bit of those loaded.

BRB.

You were right. Brilliant.

That's Whacked: using a mixture of 32bit and 64bit plugs by the same manufacturer who is (ultimately) showing off the mixing skills using said plugs.

Upon further investigation they are not using the 32bit version yet in order to properly open the project I just need the 32bit version of VMR in my scan path.

And here is where it gets weirder. Yet it resolved itself.

After I save the project and remove the 32bit path for VMR the project now opens properly.

Slackers indeed.

But I found the A W E S O M E answer by Lars to be the B O M B that got me to be able to open the project.
