I've just found that the files that I could not download were on a backup (I have a home server with daily backups) which was from July (by accident, as normally backups older than 3 months are cleaned up to free up space). Thank you the oddities of Windows Server Essentials client backup! Now making sure I archive this all off to a separate hard disk locked away in a file and water-proof box!!!
On the above, if you've installed them in the past, you should be able to find them still:
- The Cakewalk Loopmasters Content Collection, Sample Magic Content Collection and X-MiX Content Collection should all land up in your Audio files (Cakewalk Content\Audio Library\Loops). Not 100% sure if this is the only location (but pretty likely)
- The Anderton Collection is more difficult as it is a combination of various FX chains, presets, and other bits and pieces. Again not 100% sure exactly what is in this pack.
Without the installers, one option to keep all of this type of stuff would be to archive (copy, backup or zip) the
whole of the Cakewalk Content folder (wherever you have configured this to be stored) somewhere, and also think about the copying/backing up the whole of the C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk folder (which includes Control Centre\Downloads).
This will take up a reasonable amount of space (mine looks like around 100GB, so not huge by today's standards) and will of course depend on any third party loops and presets you might have also bought and installed in these locations. But well worth it to protect you in the future.
