Can you elaborate, please?

And just a curious question, why 8 GB of memory if you run only 32-bit Sonar?  It cannot access all of that.

like when i hit the back to zero key (RTZ) my audio drops out until i press spacebar again. which is really distracting when i got a guy in the booth and i need to talk/listen to him.

also i use 32 bit because some of my plugins arent 64bit friendly.

namely image-line's plugins.

even on my most loaded projects i only ever use 25% of my ram

I think the default behavior for W (bound to RTZ) is to return the cursor to the 0 point of the project (or to the Now Time marker), and to stop there.
That's what it does here (The audio engine doesn't stop for me, the project stops).
When I press the Rewind Button ("Start/Stop Rewind", IE "<<") in the Transport Module, it rewinds half a measure for each press, and the project immediately resumes playing from that time, no dropouts.
So - are you having a drop out, or are you concerned about the fact that the audio is stopping?

Seems like I had a similar problem before checking "play effect tails after stopping" in Pref->Playback and recording. Or I may be hallucinating. Try it and see if it helps

ill try that. the problem is that all live monitoring stops when i return to zero. which is a problem if i want to stop a take, talk to the vocalist, and then re-take.

maybe i should make a video...

Hope you get it figured out. The only time I've had audio engine drop outs is when over taxing an underpowered pc. Checking the play effect tails helped for a few more tracks/plugs.

Are you using a blank audio track as a talk-back channel? If you click the audio engine button are you saying the input echo is disabled?
A video would help to see how your setup.

yeah i am using a blank channel. but even if i use hardware monitoring for my side, i still have the problem of the vocalist cutting out. ill do a video tonight sometime. in the middle of a recording sesh, the last thing i need is a crash from doing avideo haha

Looking forward to any video showing the issue - sorry my brain is not getting it from your explanations - not your fault there - anyways, will try to help after seeing vid clip.
