  • Export all tracks to waves, prep to send out for mixing

I have several projects which I am going to have someone else mix. Most mix in pro tools. So I need to send them just the tracks as wave files.  I know that I can export each individual track to a wave file. Is there a function or method which will extend all tracks to zero (so that all data/wave info will line up later) and export all of the tracks to indivual waves? all in one shot. Or do I need to address every single track, basically repeating a manual export  for each track I have?  I'm not sure what this process would be called.  :)

Thanks again!!!

Tracey, if this is an extension of your other thread about routing BFD to separate Sonar tracks, let me give you a couple of tips.

  1. Bounce all of your Mono tracks in one pass
  2. Bounce all of your Stereo tracks in a second pass
  3. On the BFD GUI, there is what looks like a label at the bottom of the screen called "offline". Click it so that it turns red BEFORE you bounce down
  4. Only use 16 bit samples in BFD (nobody can hear the difference between 16 & 24)
  5. You might want to lower either: all of BFD's faders by about 10dB, or the input gains at the top of each console strip in Console View by about 10dB
BFD's raw tracks are HOT and will need taming before attempting to mix with them

Bristo, yes this is an extention of my other post. Thanks so much for the tips, definatley good to know before I bounce.  looks like #3 will save me some time or headaches!  :)

It's more a case of avoiding things like cymbals being truncated when rendering audio. There might well be a setting somewhere that I need to adjust inside Sonar, but without this option switched on, rendering is less than perfect.

You might also benefit from doing a real time bounce as opposed to a fast bounce, so it's definitely not a time saver!

Bristol, that is exaclty what the Offline button is for. If you are not doing a realtime bounce, then use the OFfline button. Found that info in the BFD2 user manual. :)

Another goofball question: when I export all of the tracks to waves, will each individual track bounce with the eq, plugins and fader level, correct? I am thinking I may need to shut off /disable the plug ins and eqs, and return the faders to zero? So that whomever is mixing, will get just raw tracks (except for my guitar sim tracks). Also on guitars sims, should I remove the reverbs so the mixer can add? Anything else I should know?
