Can anybody think of a reason to have PC2A + ProChannel Concrete Limiter live together on the same channel when it comes to treating a signal?

Just use concrete limiter for drums and PC2A for vocals right now.

Cheers

If what you mean is using a comp & a limiter on the same track it's not that unusual.

I keep reading interviews with the producer/ mix engineer heroes of todays mainstream pop music, and it seems that some of them use limiters at the track level througout a session. I dunno, it just seems wrong to me to clean every track of transients before they even make it to a buss, but it seems to work for them...

I usually keep turning tracks down, keeping an eye on the level of the busses, and only ever apply limiters (to the busses) at the last stages of a mix.

Modern producers don't know what a fader is so yes I don't doubt they use a limiter on every track.

I wouldn't say typical "modern". I would say "bad" or "novice" producers...
During mixing I more or less consider compressors and limiters more as effect to reshape the sound then actually bringing level down. Use gainstage and faders for lower the volume.

During tracking compressors can keep a level tight and punchy but not over do it, it will kill the live feel.

Mixing engineers secret: There are occasions that you want to feed a 1176LN into a La-2.
I have used the trick many times. Has been done and heard on countless of albums world wide.

It can work well for many situations, depends on the material.
In most cases I'd rather treat problematic peaks using a comp+limiter per track rather than sticking a bus comp on the source at the mastering stage.

That seems a go-to move these days whether the material needs it or not; for a gluing effect or loud product.

Anyone got any real world examples? For me right now its either/or ... or not at all. Keen to understand why people would want to do both. Cheers.
