Progression of time trying to tell me something maybe. Don't know if anyone is left out there struggling with this.

Went balls to the wall, slobbering excitement to get GPO 5 installed on my win XP computer. Major crash and needs win 7 and above.

Kontakt upgrade toast. Revalver fried. Waves Central biting the big one trying to get GTR 3 authorized. Others as well.

Probably answered my own question.

Crying forkin' shame. Got an older quad core Intel box running win XP. Dependable and stable..

Then, rock solid 1010LT card. Next computer won't have PCI slots. Beautiful investment off the deep end when I have to upgrade. Another depraved issue.

Anyone out there fighting with the inevitable end of win XP, and how are you dealing with it? Beer helps here a bit. Know the answer is to suck it up, take the losses and open the credit card. Nothing a couple thousand dollars can't fix.

I dropped XP way back when for Win 7 and now I'm on Win 10.

RME UFX interface. I use USB, not firewire. Although.... my modo does have TI firewire if needed.

I only use PCI-e now for video and my UAD Quads.

No beer needed.

Hope you get something going soon John.

Old XP rig will hang in there until something better comes up. Puts a serious brake on GAS since most of the new good stuff requires win 7 or later. Figure a good win 10 system with USB 2 interface may be the way to go unless either me or the computer lasts until Thunderbolt gets cheaper.

Things have changed so much since XP very little modern hardware or software can be expected to work on it.

I dumped XP to go to 64bit Vista what seems like a lifetime ago, without drama or regrets. I skipped Win 7 & got Win 8 on a new DAW. Now running Win 10. Every step has been a step toward.

I still use an old XP box in the voiceover room (also with a 1010) and it's finally starting to get sketchy on me. Will probably end up upgrading my music DAW and cannibalizing it to build a new voiceover machine. Not looking forward to it though.
