Important info regarding Sonar Activation

It is nothing more than here-say and means nothing and is misleading.

It's a direct message from Noel to a Host, how is that hearsay?

Everything means nothing and is hearsay at the moment. I tend to trust Noel and hope he still has the control to enforce what he said. I'm sure if he said it, he means it.

I'm at a loss to understand why anyone is upset with the information in those stickies. All they mean are there are alternatives. I myself will get Cubase Pro. I have had Studio one for years. I am on version 3. I also have Samplitude and Mixbus among others. Sonar has been my main DAW but I have never thought it was the only DAW. Right now things are in flux and I strongly believe that as hosts it is our duty to keep this forum calm and prepared to answer member questions. It also make sense to me that developers that are offering good deals to those that wish to transfer over to another DAW are allowed to post here. As far as I know there will be no more Sonar updates. With that understanding it seems very prudent to allow information on alternatives. I am not endorsing any other DAW at this time. However, I am also aware that members want to know where to look for a good solid DAW that will meet their needs as Sonar has for so long.

Consider any post that hi-lights another DAW as something like a public service. These are extraordinary times for this forum. We have no guidelines as to how to proceed as hosts. We need your cooperation in providing as much useful information as we can. So in the end you have as easy a time transitioning to another DAW as we can make it. That is our goal. I will say I am in shock that my beloved Sonar is no longer viable. Yet, I believe it is my duty as well as the other hosts to do the best we can in making this forum the very best forum for its members that we can for as long as we are able.

35mm: Noel and crew may be trying to decide if their severance check should go to food or rent, but they are still personally invested in SONAR. They'll figure out a way, even if Gibson runs interference.

Because it is, just by what you said.
A host is a glorified customer.
What the host alleges, that if/when the servers go down we will be supplied uncrippled install files is pretty crucial to this whole mess.

This has not been announced. Therefor, it is hearsay.
AND, you even locked the thread??

So, why hasn't Noel said the same publicly?

I am sure there are lots of announcements to be made. This news has only just broken. It must be chaos behind the scenes right now and most customers (those who don't use the forums) still have no idea. This is a big thing. They have to break the news in a dignified way and also work out the logistics for supporting customers through this whole thing and making sure they get what they paid for. I imagine the Cakewalk skeleton staff will have to do all that and maybe without getting paid for it. Some of them have been with Cakewalk for more than 20 years and I expect they are still trying to wipe the tears from their eyes right now. I can feel their pain. Hopefully, you can too. I'm sure answers will come soon.
Funny this was said, because I posted a very similar message at the old NNTP Cakewalk.Audio group earlier this morning. If Noel said this, it would prolly be good to provide a link to the original message from him. Then there would be no question about it.

I put the post up and locked it. You can discuss it in the forum all you like. My intention was to add to it as we got any more information that would address people’s questions.

What Noel can say 1 on 1 with someone via a PM perhaps is not what he is allowed to say publicly, at this stage.

In Noel’s original announcement he mentioned that further information would be forthcoming. An FAQ.

If someone I’ve known for years says they had a brief conversation with Noel and he said.......I believe him.

The link I posted takes you all the way back to wookiee’s Original post over at SonarMods via a link in a Cakewalk forum post. This way everyone can trace the origin of the “hearsay”.

In a climate where we’re all looking for some reassurances I thought this would at least answer the most pressing question we all have at this time. As more “hearsay” is gathered I’ll add it to that sticky.

Not long ago it was stated that, "Staff View is not a forgotten or dead topic at Cakewalk". Add that to the question, "has this activation without connection to a server patch, already been written and thoroughly tested to be bug free?", because if not, who will be around to program it at some later date?  That was pretty much the jist of my post this morning at the cakewalk.audio NNTP group.
