Yeah it will, ACT assignments don't need to be saved. It's probably just a case of swapping it for a session and then re-assigning when finished.
Another option might be using the Cakewalk generic surface. That has some ACT control on it. I'm not sure whether that will work independently as an ACT controller with the same surface at the same time though.
I do know that it will for other functions because I use it with the MIDI section of my ZED-R16. I use the button bank, knobs and faders via the ACT controller and the channel faders and transport controls via the Generic surface. That works great.
