How do you sort yours? Stick with the default folders? Create your own? 

At the moment I just stick with the standard folder options and any new ones I give their own folder. Saying that, I've just taken out a subscription with Sound on Sound and as a gift they give you Focusrite Midnight Suite (EQ & Compressor), and instead of lumping these two in their own folder, I was considering re-arranging them into an EQ folder - lumping all EQs in there, Compressor folder, guitar amp folder etc.

Anyone else done this? How do you sort yours?

That's quite cool, although not sure I have enough plugins by the same manufacturer for it to work this end. Still, makes them easier to find 

I use my PluginManager, let it sort like I configure it to sort and have "no" plugin layout (i.e ALL plugins) in sonar, which shows the plugin menu tree as my plugin manager created folders.

This way, I have all plugins sorted the same way in every host, not only sonar, as mosts hosts show the plugins reflecting the folder structure they were scanned from

Sorting by vendor seems to make the most sense to me; that's the easiest what to remember where things are, even if some folders only contain a few entries.  Plugs that came in a package go into a common sub-folder.

If you pay attention when installing i.e. install them to separate directories as suggested above, this is sort of automatic.  I used to do that, but latelyI create my set-up (still by vendor) in the Cakewalk plug-in manager, because
 - I only want 64 bit version to show if both 32 and 64 bit would be available
 - I shorten the names for better display on the control surface and FX bin
