Hi guys,
Here's the situation I was in last night...(session in Sonar x2a..."overwrite" recording mode, all takes in one track, lanes set to "off")
A client came over to lay-in some midi brass chord lines with his Roland synth.
After recording a few takes, we decided to edit some timing issues in PRV.
In smart tool mode, I select one note and move it to the right, and guess what, there is another note under it...and I wonder, what's going on here....so I move that note and there is still another note under...in short there were three notes on different midi channels layered on top of each other!
The Roland patch he chose to use was a performance mode patch and had five layered samples, each sample transmitting on different key zones and midi channels (i.e, 1,2,3,4,5)!!
So editing his chord lines was going to be a very tedious job...imagine having to trim, and move each midi note at least three times...
So this is my question....
...have any of you come across this situation before (this was my first ...) and if you did, is there a way to simplify the editing process in PRV?
I tried setting the midi input channel of that that track to only channel 1 and not omni and recording again...and as you probably figured out, it only recorded notes transmiting on channel 1, so there were missing voices in his chords...so midi input had to remain at "omni"....
Thanks guys for any help and suggestions!
