• SONAR
  • Two Instances Of Same VSTi Causes SONAR Projects To Be Unopenable

Howdy folks.

I'm running the 64 bit version of SONAR X2a Producer. I'm running into issues where SONAR freezes every time I try and open projects using more than one instance of V-Station. What's going on here? I have to kill SONAR and all bit bridges using process explorer and then try and salvage my project using safe mode. This happens with more than one instance of Slicex as well. Is this because I'm using a 64 bit version of SONAR? Should I install the 32 bit version? Anyone else having a similar issue? Any thoughts?

Is your copy of V-Station 32bit? If so, I read somewhere recently that multiple instances of the same 32bit VST can sometimes crash bit bridge. Some possible workarounds are:

1) Try using JBridge.
2) Create a COPY of the VST DLL in your VST plugins folder for each instance you want to use, rescan, then make sure to use only a single instance of each.
3) Upgrade V-Station to the 64bit version.

If you are already using 64bit plugins, then I'd suspect a wonky audio driver is causing this (and you shouldn't see any bit bridge instances running).

I second Dan's advice here. V-Station, is it even released as a 64-bit VST? I thought it remained as 32-bit only. I can't find any info about Slicex being 64-bit either...

Anyway, I had the same issue with a plug a while back before it got upgraded to 64-bit and tried jBridge. That fixed the issue completely. If V-Station isn't 64-bit, I'd check out jBridge. It's really cheap and worth ten times its cost

Similar situation here, but with a different VST (IK) yet also 32 bit.

I'm converting to jBridge as we speak. From all that I've read in this and other forums recently, jBridge should be the better choice. So I'll give it a go now, even though most of my tools are already 64 bit.

It's just no fun to fire up those older great sounding tools you haven't used in while and then having to figure out why all the sudden Sonar behaves so badly ...

Just for the record, my similar problem of SONAR freezing every time I try and open projects using more than one instance of IK SampleTron was fixed entirely by jBridge
