My studio setup isn't condusive to having touchscreen monitors, but I wanted to take advantage of SONAR's new touch interface in some manner, so I thought I'd try a couple multi-touch input devices that support Windows 8 gestures. I purchased a Microsoft Touch Mouse & a Lenovo K5923 TouchPad, and to be honest the results have been kinda disappointing. Basically, all I was really wanting was improved zoom & scroll functionality, but neither has improved my workflow w/in SONAR. The MS Touch Mouse will scroll & swipe, but only if you focus the horizontal scrollbar first (this requires clicking on the bus pane). Any edits to a track or loss of focus will disable the horizontal scrolling. The touchpad has been a complete wash, as SONAR doesn't seem to recognize any of the guestures it performs, save for standard scrolling ala mousewheel. It doesn't seem to recognize Semantic (pinch) zoom either...it seems to shift a half-measure forward or backward but does not zoom in any manner.

Is there some sort of touch configuration in SONAR I'm not seeing? Has anyone had success getting touch functionality out of an input device?

I think it's all about touch screen. It works as advertised and is a nice change of pace- but for me, mouse and hot keys are still quicker.

Well that's kind of what I figured...I'm sure I'm in kind of a small niche, but I did come across a few others wondering about the same thing.

One of the Cakewalk employees in this forum suggested that if you have a tablet you can use a free program called Splashtop to give you some touch functions. Basically, when you connect to the online application it sends your desktop to your tablet where you can use the touch functions. I tried it on my Smartphone and it works, but the display is too small to be used. You need at least a 7" or 10" tablet for it to be useful.

I do have an iPad, but my wife is always hogging it, so I doubt that would be a consistent option ;). I do plan on downloading that Splashtop app and seeing if it will work for me. Thanks!
