I hate track lanes!!! Really, don't get what the baker's where thinking...
track layers worked much better.

Have to say the way take lanes behaved so erratically on the initial release was one of the reasons I put X2 aside and went back to using X1.
Even though I have applied the bug patch, whilst I had intended to go back to X2 and get fully used to all the new features, I've been so busy making music (as opposed to being a Computer tech - no offence to techs of course!) that I don't seem to have the heart for it at the moment.

My X1 is rock solid, does everything I want and doesn't have take lanes, so except for a couple of things (like Breverb which quite frankly I would probably never use as my go to reverbs are Aether and Valhalla) I am not sure what I am missing.
And if the take lanes are still hit or miss, perhaps I'll just stick with X1 for the foreseeable future.

I'm on board here as well. I really am not liking the Take Lanes. There's some erratic behavior, yes, but it's sooo easy to get lost in the lanes, ESPECIALLY if you have your tracks assigned to Folders. There should have been at least some way to lighten or darken the Lanes vs the color of the tracks. When the lanes are collapsed, you can easily be fooled into "seeing" audio on the track, but it's audio from only the first Lane, not the only lane you may have Solo'd, for example. Mute buttons aren't always working properly (or rather, as expected) for Lanes. So, I agree, there's still something left to be desired. Can't please everyone, I know, but I'm personally no longer using lanes as a result, hoping Cakewalk will take another hard look at them.

I didn't really like how Layers were laid out in X1, specifically. I know Cakewalk saw what I did and thought they could be improved, but Lanes didn't really give me something better, just something different. I just perceive it as worse, only because there seems to be some "spooky action at a distance" (which hopefully will be fixed eventually), but I also didn't get as lost in X1's Layers as I do in X2's Lanes. Auto-Zoom with Lanes is a bit trifling, but that's not required.

Aside from the cutting and pasting issues I see I lake lanes much better than layers. You can get around the copy and past thing if you use the mouse to drag the clip to the lane or track you want it to go to. You just need to split on the snap to boundary and it will move easily.

I don't think lanes are a step back. They're not finshed baking yet. If they work correctly, they will be much easier than layers.

Cake, what ever you do PLEASE leave the Automation Lanes.

I think layers had gone as far as they could. I accept that lanes need improvement and refining but even simple things like the size of the mute & solo buttons is a big improvement for me. I can't see how they could have been made bigger using the layers method but I could never hit them properly. I even used to use click lock they were that bad.

I beg to disagree that Layers had gone as far as they could... I could think of many ways to keep them and advance their' utility...

Right off the bat? Have both available!

I just can't manage to stater how much I dislike them... All in the name of a few adjustments which could have been made to Layers and not brought all the adverse aspects of Lanes...

I too just cannot work with them tho I continue to try.... I sincerely hope that the Bakers have some plan underway to rectify these issues as this is more than a simple weak point. It is a major "in-your-face" item and is causing much trouble for far too many users...

For me I find absolutely no benefit and all increased problems... They couldn't even manage to keep the zoom features consistent with the previous versions and have left me in non-stop discomfort and increased my workload instead of streamlining my workflow...

Cakewalk had something a step above the competition.... Layers have been around a while and The Bakers found a versatile method of improving theis only to abandon it and join the fold...

To me? A bad choice... and I see it is so to many others... Bakers..... Are you listening? I know you monitor all these conversations and I can only hope that some of you see the importance and tend to this asap.... Not waiting for another major release as that is gonna hurt everyone...

For those who find it an improvement? I hope the solution maintains what you need/like about Lanes, but for many of us this has become a glaring issue...

I can't manage to state strongly enough how much this issue is painful.... and debilitating for me.

Sure I manage to get my work done anyway... But with much extra work and frustration that was enver experienced in Sonar before...

Please! Fix This! Quickly!

Someone hear our plea....

Now back to my comping nightmare.... I'll scream so more about it later...

Meanwhile, keep up the talk... Let's make sure The Bakers know just how dis-satisfied so many of us are and how badly these issues need to be addressed...

...and for those happy with how things currently are? I hope your projects are fun and plentiful.... Just don't forget those of us suffering in the wake of this....

A very sad Sonar user.... Please don't destroy my faith in Cakewalk.... Even tho Roland now "owns" it...

I like the Automation lanes but I don't like Take lanes, I just don't see them as an improvement in their current implementation.
