If by retro you mean that it looks like a real physical machine, then that's what I really like about X2. I've now spent hours 'on' a bunch of different daws thanks to the groove3 videos and I'm not too impressed by the competition's look. Logic Pro is really lolly pop, Live is so abstract it's hard to tell the different sections apart or distinguish the controls, kind of like you're in Tron, Protools is sort of blah... I get back to X2 and embrace the square edges and the reality of the parts. But then, if I could have real knobs and sliders I'd be even more happy.

I'm only talking looks, I still haven't gotten around to trying out much of the workflow.
