I've been asking this for years. ASPPlayground.NET needs updating (scroll down this page and click on the link to see what I mean). Cakewalk never responds about this ever. All we get is people debating how good their browsers are (yes we understand it works for some browers!) when there is clearly a serious bug with other browsers. This can be proven because if you use the latest ASPPlayground.Net software (click link at bottom of the page to find a demo) it works. And besides there could be serious security risks if the software isn't updated periodically (i.e. hacked accounts etc).

The guy who owns Opera annoyed me when he started whining about how it wasn't fair that MS bundles IE with Windows. So I boycotted it. Petty? Yes. But there you have it.

Think of how the creators of NetScape felt in the late 90's. I think they were the ones who raised the Anti-trust cases against Microsoft because of fairness. Now, Microsoft bundles a DVD decoder with Windows 7, and I'm sure those old codec providers complained about that. It's just the way it is, though. Apple implements Safari, but we still choose to use FF. I agree it's silly to complain that you can't compete with Microsoft in browsers if they bundle it. FF wins so many people over because of things they do that IE simply doesn't, like the [3D View] in "Inspect Element". That is WAY cool!

The forum sends me instant notifications or daily digests sporadically. Regardless if I visit the forum or not. I have to come back and check my list of Subscribed Posts to see if there are new posts.

Like I said - embarassing for a company that produces software.

And yes, it deteres potential new customers from Cakewalk.

I live in Germany and here everyone is using Cubase and Ableton Live. But what's funny, when they come at my studio or ask me what I use, it turns out they had not even heard of Sonar or Cakewalk!

Browser incompatibilities in this forum are due to the web software package being used:
 ASPPlayground.NET Forum Commercial Version 3.5

It's a canned solution with know compatibility issues. Last time I checked there were multiple complaints from subscribers about these issues on its forums.

Edit:
I just took a look at ASPPlaygrounds website and it looks like there are newer versions 3.9/4.0 that fix** the FireFox, Chrome, IE issues. (**statement based on thread topics posted on their support forum)

Er that's what I wrote in my last post and over a year ago.Did you not try the demo of the latest version. It works and has been working for several years on asp playground site. Still Cake refuses to upgrade. Anyway see my last post.

This is the ONLY forum that doesn't function properly for me in Firefox. I go to quite a few and have no problems out of any of them. Only this one.

Problem is I think Chrome tracks you, I would have never installed it if it was not for this forum. This IS the ONLY web site you need it for. Someone said if they update the forum it would loose all the old information??

So what?
Track away.
It's not like I'm into child porn or weird twisted sick stuff or hunting down drugs or explosives.
I go here, Sweetwater and some other music stores, pretty much all VST sites and youtube.

What could they possibly track? I think they do it so when you search for sites it keeps it geared to your interests.

Unless there's something else I should know about. Please let me know if I'm misunderstanding the premiss of the tracking.

Mike

I recently interviewed with a company that operates ad servers. Guess what??!!??  They track EVERYONE, no matter the browser.

Sorry I didn't read all the posts.
I agree with your comments.

I've been complaining about browser compatibility issues since the forum had it's last major upgrade (probably 3.5) back when.  I got so tired of it that now I rarely visit the cw forums (used to check them out daily).

If the web admin doesn't have the chops to handle the upgrade - they should farm it out.  There are plenty of programmers out there who could handle this.

Yup I'm one of them. And I'm sure ASPPlayground will do it as well for a fee.
