Personally, I wish Cakewalk would make the necessary changes so that I won't have to run two browsers. I prefer Chrome but for some reason the last update killed the audio in any video clip I play. I've tried the fixes I have found online but haven't found the cure for it. So I have to use Firefox to view videos and Chrome to post here. (Or not, for this post - with the resulting formatting problems.)

Problem is I think Chrome tracks you, I would have never installed it if it was not for this forum. This IS the ONLY web site you need it for. Someone said if they update the forum it would loose all the old information??

So what?
Track away.
It's not like I'm into child porn or weird twisted sick stuff or hunting down drugs or explosives.
I go here, Sweetwater and some other music stores, pretty much all VST sites and youtube.

What could they possibly track? I think they do it so when you search for sites it keeps it geared to your interests.

Unless there's something else I should know about. Please let me know if I'm misunderstanding the premiss of the tracking.

Mike

I recently interviewed with a company that operates ad servers. Guess what??!!??  They track EVERYONE, no matter the browser.

So there you have it.
Pick the browser you're most comfortable with let it roll.

If you happen to be doing things that make tracking a scary thought, then shame on you.

I like Chrome so phhbbbtttt! (I guess that's how you would spell a raspberry.)  :)

Have a great weekend all.

The guy who owns Opera annoyed me when he started whining about how it wasn't fair that MS bundles IE with Windows. So I boycotted it. Petty? Yes. But there you have it.

Think of how the creators of NetScape felt in the late 90's. I think they were the ones who raised the Anti-trust cases against Microsoft because of fairness. Now, Microsoft bundles a DVD decoder with Windows 7, and I'm sure those old codec providers complained about that. It's just the way it is, though. Apple implements Safari, but we still choose to use FF. I agree it's silly to complain that you can't compete with Microsoft in browsers if they bundle it. FF wins so many people over because of things they do that IE simply doesn't, like the [3D View] in "Inspect Element". That is WAY cool!
I didn't think there was anything "fair" about trying to force a private business into bundling someone else's product with theirs. The fair way was to come up with a browser that was better than IE, and Firefox certainly did that (although I think IE has caught up again in terms of quality). What bothered me most of all is that Microsoft was doing nothing at all to impinge upon anyone's freedom of choice.

The only browser I've used it with where it works exactly as intended is Firefox 3.6.

I tried this and it worked flawlessly for a few months and then began to hiccup. I tried ie9 again and have had no problems since with ie9. I install all the security updates etc. I have noticed that if I am adding a picture or anything like that it works better if I switch to full size on the reply box. (with the icons over to the left side).

I've been asking this for years. ASPPlayground.NET needs updating (scroll down this page and click on the link to see what I mean). Cakewalk never responds about this ever. All we get is people debating how good their browsers are (yes we understand it works for some browers!) when there is clearly a serious bug with other browsers. This can be proven because if you use the latest ASPPlayground.Net software (click link at bottom of the page to find a demo) it works. And besides there could be serious security risks if the software isn't updated periodically (i.e. hacked accounts etc).

Well, we do know Cakewalk admits that they are due to upgrade the forum. There's another topic regarding credit card payments to Cakewalk.com's store, and what looks like a sarcastic remark  from a Cakewalk admin as to why the credit card transactions weren't going through for specific customers. The response was, "This could be something to do with the fact that we due to upgrade our forum software." (or something to that tune). However, I can't tell if this was sheer sarcasm, or if the gentleman believes that these two systems are inter-related.
