Hi,

I'm trying to use Sonar LE with a Roland Octacapture, which despite its name has 10 inputs (two are digital).

When I go into Sonar's preferences, it allows me to select up to four pairs of inputs, so I can have 8 in total.

How do I record from all 10 inputs simultaneously?

Sonar LE is not able to manage more than 8 I/O Busses. You have to upgrade or get yourself another DAW.

Thanks for the prompt and helpful reply.

Maybe I should use Ardour on Ubuntu instead.  Does anyone know if there's a Linux driver for the Roland Octacapture, or the source code to make one myself?

Assuming that your need for 10 channels is real (instead of just thinking you need that many) I would recommend looking into something better supported by Roland than for a lynux solution.  X2 essential isn't that expensive.

And it's a deliberate limit imposed by the software, not the interface. The 'LE' stands for limited edition and can show you the capabilities (or lack thereof) of the DAW. If you get along well with it and it gives you what you need, you may upgrade to a full version of the software.
Oh, and welcome to the forum, too.
