Is an Aux track the same as a bus? If not, then how do I create one?

Yes it is a buss. It is not a track. You use the send to a buss from a track and we call it an auxiliary buss but its still a buss.  You will notice that a buss can also send to another buss.

Hi complexsimple,

It's referred to as an Auxiliary Send. It is just a bus, but it's dedicated for routing the FX you put in it's FX Bin.

You create a bus that will be dedicated for an FX. For example, put a Reverb VST in the FX Bin of the bus, then name that bus 'Reverb Send' or something something similar. It's best to label it as some kind of 'Send' as it's easier to keep track of that way.

Then you right click on a track or a bus and select 'Insert Send'. You'll see a list of all the buses come up. Select the one that you created and have designated as a 'Send', and you'll see another set of options come up to control the level of that 'Send'.

Hope this helps.
