  • HELP!: SERIOUS glitch in TTS-1 softsynth and another glitch with the Wheel controller.

Hi,

Background:
Basically I was using the SI Bass softsynth to record a bass part (because my actual bass is too cheap).
There is no way to choose which notes slide to each other in that, so I was going to pull the notes out
(that needed sliding) to another track and put it's slide setting on (an option in the actual synth).
I found that it was too slow for what I needed (wouldn't slide if the notes were in quick succession), so
I thought I would use the Pitch Wheel controller. - Which didn't work.

TTS-1 situation:
I thought I would then try the TTS-1 synth and I found that adding a TTS-1 instrument COMPLETELY
froze my ability to playback (the playback/record buttons are completely non-responsive).
This is the most basic synth in Sonar so I knew that there is something seriously wrong.

Additional Wheel issue:
I did find that other synths allowed playback however NONE interacted with the wheel controller at
all. - I would create wheel data and it was completely ignored (which completely screws me in my situation).

What I have tried:
I found these issues happen in ALL my sonar installations. 8.5, X1, and X2
I have the latest version of my soundcard drivers (M-Audio Audiophile 192).

Please tell me what to do. I'm on a deadline and I'm screwed if I can't resolve this.

Thanks.

Couple of quick questions:-

What sampling rate are you running?

How are you recording Pitch wheel movements?

Must have info:

Your system specs and ids this producer or studio or what. Reason I ask: Do you have Dimension Pro?

192

I am drawing them in manually in the controller panel under the piano roll (and I know
how to do this correctly).
The wheel events are showing in the  event list panel but are all grayed out (I don't know if that's relevant).

I have win 7 x64 running on a beast  of a computer. - I can't remember the name but it's a dual CPU computer (not dual core) with 16 gig ram also.

My versions are the producer versions and I don't know if I have Dimension pro (name doesn't ring a bell at all).

TTS doesn't work well at 192.  You can try changing it to Light Load Mode In System/Options.  This is the cause of your TTS problems, but not the wheel problems.

I'll have a look as soon as I get to my studio.

Also I am able to record midi data from both my electronic drum kit and external syth (both are triggered without issue also).

If you have Producer, you have Dim Pro.

Appreciated. In reality I have no need to use  the  TTS-1 synth, I just thought the problem would be indicative of something.
I just need to get a sliding effect at specific points in a bass synth.
Also the bass part is the only midi driven part in the song. There are heaps of layers of normal Audio (which have already been recorded at 192).

Just want to check something.  When you are drawing the wheel movement are you going to the drop down menu under the PV and choosing "New Value Type" from the pop up menu, then in the MIDI Event Type window choosing: Type - Wheel, Value 26 Bend Range?  Is Channel set correctly?

Sorry if you know all this.  I don't know what you do or don't know and am just looking for a solution.
