As I viewed the many videos on YouTube and elsewhere about people's reactions and comments on the supposedly demise of Cakewalk, I came to the realization that counter to what I've seen at places like KVR Audio, Sonar is well loved and very popular by a great number of people. The YouTube video below prompted me to post this thread.

Right, that's 140k people paying how much (some upwards of $10,000) for protools hardware and software every couple of years versus 143k people, some with lifetime subscriptions, others paying a nominal fee.

I love Sonar, but Cakewalk/Gibson did not have a sustainable business model.

Just waiting to see what happens.

I really don't want to have to dig out my old copy of Sonar X1... so buggy in Windows 10!  Hoping my cancelled subscription copy holds out, I was planning on resubscribing in January, but guess I can't now.

Video makes a good point with the car analogy.  I drove my Saab 95 Aero for six years after Saab folded, and I'd probably still be driving it if I didn't total it.  Unlike Sonar, the 2003 Saab never got better with age (when Saab was still in business), but it was a car that I continued to enjoy driving for the 13 years it ran.
