Is this essentially a Sonar X2a problem???  I cannot shutdown any project I open without it completely hanging.

This problem does not affect all users of X2a. I know that I am not the only one that had no issues installing or using X2a Producer 64bit (not claiming the program is bug free though).

There seem to be issues on some systems.

I was in no way expecting any problems, my system has been pretty much solid as a rock throughout Sonar8,X1 and X2.

It was only the X2a update which brought everything to a grinding halt i.e.

crash on opening a project.
crash on inserting a softsynth.
crash on changing a screenset.
crash on closing a project.

Yesterday it did not crash and I used it for 3 hours, I'm hoping it has settled down again.

That's exactly what I'm experiencing. Hanging/crashing on loading or closing a project. Dragging a project file from windows explorer will cause a hang. I haven't got much further than trying to open and close projects at this point.

Update on the VC++ package reinstalls, Shambler.

After I uninstalled all of the VC++ 2005, 2008, 2010, and 2012 packages, I went to the MS website and downloaded the VC++ 2012 (w Update 1); which I think is what is included with the X2a update. I ran the 2012 packages for x86 and x64, but SONAR X2 still hangs on loading projects. So, I tried to open a project in X1 - which was successful before uninstalling the VC++ packages, but, now SONAR X1 says that it's missing mfc100u.dll and will not run without it. This appears to be a part of the 2010 VC++ package - so I guess SONAR X1 and X2 shipped with the 2010 packages - and these are needed.

I dug through MS downloads website to find the latest VC++ packages. The original VC++ downloads seem to be still available; however MS has downloads which are from later dates and include security updates - i.e. SP1. MS seems to address this confusion with a webpage that lists out the latest VC++ packages.

Latest Supported Visual C++ Downloads:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2019667
"Because there have been several downloads related to VC++ over the years, it can be somewhat
difficult to locate which service pack, security patch or redistributable package is the most
current version.  This article is designed to provide links to the latest versions of these,
saving you the time of searching and comparing dates."

I'm going to download and install the 2010 SP1 packages to see if X1 will run again. If not, I'll uninstall/reinstall X1 and X2, to see how that goes. I'm guessing since a few of us are having these issues; perhaps I'll leave this computer as it is for now and wait to hear what the bakers might have to say. It might be a Microsoft issue, though.

Hi Scott, if you go into control panel>programs, what VC++ packages does it say you have installed?

I had another R6025 crash today, only one other than that it has been working ok.

Hi Shambler,

I just installed VC++ 2010 SP1, and SONAR X1 will start again, now; but, X2a is still hanging on opening projects.

VC++ 2012 and 2010 SP are the only ones I have installed. I guess I might reinstall X2 1.0. Hmm.

I also just found these in the list of installed programs:

"Visual C++ 64-bit Redistributables" - Publisher: PACE Anti-Piracy, Inc. Version: 1.1.0.0929
"Visual C++ Redistributables" - Publisher: PACE Anti-Piracy, Inc. Version: 1.1.0.0929

After doing a windows update I have the following VC++ redistributable files in control panel>programs

Two that say 2005, One that says 2008, two that say 2010, one that says 2012 plus further down the list two pace anti-piracy VC++ redis.

I'm going to research what should be there and if nothing comes up I'll do a complete SonarX2 uninstall as mentioned in another thread including deleting registry keys.

[edit] I've now done a complete uninstall, deleting all registry keys associated with cakewalk and uninstalling X2 then deleting any directories left behind.

I've now reinstalled everything (almost!) so we will see what happens now.

Well, appears to be rock solid again, hasn't put a foot out of place and I've been trying to make it crash for the last couple of hours.

I simply re-named the bitbridge dll file (so sonar wouldn't be able to access it) as this is what was causing my system to hang, and VIOLA...No hang ups!!!  But also no 32 bit plugins (all my UAD plugins) Consistantly it's bitbridge that's causing sonar to no longer respond for me:(

That's what I did last night, uninstalled SONAR X2 and deleted the X2 registry keys. I left X1 and the other Cakewalk products installed - and their keys. I plan to reinstall X2 today and hope that it will work better.

Revsnd; that sounds like what's happening here, too. I use KORE2 32bit and UAD 32bit in many projects, and those projects seem to be the ones that are hanging. Or, if I can get them to run for a few minutes, bitbridge soon becomes unresponsive. That was a good idea to try renaming the .dll.

I'll chime back in, soon. Thanks for the updates guys!
