Right so recently switched from a MAC with garageband to a win7 64 bit PC for various reasons we won;t get into here... I decided to go with Sonar X2 on recommendation from a few friends. Well finally have everything set up and it;s the week end..and I have time to think so...let's go through the tutorials and get started on a few projects I've been meaning to record. Problem being..I can;t even get through the tutorial... I'm near the start of it where it explains the media browser to add smaples and effects etc etc. Problem being that sonar X2 just out right freezes if I hit the play button in the media browser to preview the files and I end up having to tell win7 to kill sonar... Here are my tech specs if needed Win 7 home premium 64 bit. Intel core I7 3770 3.4ghz 8gigs of ram main drive is an SSD (with windows and sonar installed there) and I have a few 1tb 7200rpm drives internal and external for storage and games/media etc Oh and an NVIDIA gtx 680...although I dont see how that would do anything for sonar. my pc output and input sound wise is all set to go to my desktop Konnekt 6 Everything has the latest drivers I can hit play and set up loops etc etc no problem and no other program has been crashing. Its really just previewing the media files in the browser that fully locks up sonar.

Are you talking about the loops that come with Sonar, or third-party loops? Also, click the down arrow next to "Media" at the top of the browser and make sure the Audio Preview Bus is set correctly.

Have you installed the latest patch? There was a known bug with media browsing on some set ups (mine was one). That was fixed in the patch and X2 on my studio setup is now as rock solid as X1 was for me.

I do get the odd graphics glitch on my latest mobile setup which I never saw on my old laptop. The difference between my studio DAW, the old laptop, and my new one is that this latest laptop is using NVIDIA graphics and the others use ATI. Perhaps there's something in that, who knows?
