The big difference is the Producer has Pro Channel. In the past the real difference was more plugins bundled with Producer and perhaps a few added features but now PC makes it a whole "nother" DAW. Pro Channel is more than worth the price difference. 

Studio is OK but Producer is the DAW to get.

ya but you should make clear that producer is just a gateway to PC you dont get the good plugs in producer eather.( you must buy them ALA brick limiter and so on) its ok but fact is if you have other bundles as i do. producer offers nothing but a buggy Vvocal and some librarys . if you not using synths studio is better IMO

V Vocal comes in both versions. Again what truly distinguishes Producer from Studio is the Pro Channel.  No it is not just a gateway to PC. If you wish you can add extra modules to it but Studio wont allow you to create PC chains or use your existing plugins in PC because it doesn't have PC. This adds more flexibility for routing plugins as well as customizing the sound you get from Sonar. 

The notion that other "bundles" are equivalent is not true either. PC with the included modules require less CPU while providing outstanding quality.  I don't think you understand what PC offers the user.

I had actually ordered the wrong version (X2 Studio upgrade) online ... I was able to contact Cakewalk and for an extra $50 got the Producer upgrade.  (Coming from Sonar 7 Producer many years ago, moved to Pro Logic, but now I need to do some work on the PC side so back with Sonar X2 Producer).

$50 difference was worth it for me.

Absolutely!   IMHO.    You can count me as another Pro Channel fan, along with Dim Pro, Rapture, etc.   Provided these are things you might use at some point, the Producer extras are so worth more than $50.
