Hi,

right now to play MIDI files, I gotta go under the 'Insert' menu then 'Soft Synth' and choose ForteDXi (which I installed), and then, in each audio tracks, I gotta change the source (or whatever is called) to ForteDXi instead of my Fast Track Pro. Is there a way I can avoid going in that menu and doing it for each tracks (in other words: is there a way to have ForteDXi linked to each tracks automaticly when opening a midi file?)t

Thank you

When you insert Forte(or any softsynth) select First Synth Audio Output or All Synth Audio Outputs(if the synth has multiple outputs).
This will create audio tracks that are automatically linked to your synth.
Also, in your settings, make sure NO options are selected in MIDI Outputs.
DO NOT insert any other synths in your project.
If Forte is the only synth available, the MIDI track outputs will default to Forte.

Thanks,

Is there a way to even avoid having to insert it? Like, inserting it automaticly?

You can create a track  or project template with synths and FX inserted ready. Otherwise inserting them separately is the only way.

You have to insert the tracks, however, once you add the softsynth to the rack, you can point all of the tracks to that softsynth using the Process menu (I think). (I don't remember the specifics and I don't have Sonar 8 installed anymore).

You can't use a template because then you have to import the midi file. Importing midi files looses all the System exclusive data and things like tempo and tempo maps.

You have to open midi files so they will play like they were composed.

So your asking to much.

OPEN the midi file, it will create 16 track midi only tracks.
Insert soft synth. TTS-1 is the best for General MIDI tracks
Select all ( ctrlA)
Go to Tracks / properties/outputs and select the soft synth.
.

That's it.

Is ForteDXi better than TTS-1?
