There is a problem with recordings in my DAW (Sonar X1). If I play on my midi controller (breath controller), all sounds great (headphone). But if I listen to the record, there is an unwanted portamento effect. It sounds like a whining cat. In short: What I hear, is not, what I get. Perhaps, someone of you have an idea where the problem is.

Are you recording MIDI or audio?
If MIDI, what synth are you using?

Computer specs, soundcard, etc???

It is MIDI. [Only recording is a problem; when playing, all sounds good.]. I tried Kontakt (Mr. Sax T) and a wind-controller-specific softsynth. I think, it is a general problem. Sound Card: USB-card: Komplete Audio 6; Computer (8GB RAM, Core i7, Win7, 64bit).

Look in your event list to see whats causing the sound. What sound card are you using? Hopefully, its one of the recommended ones.

Depending on the softsynth, it may have a portamento setting that you can turn off.

Or as CJ said, your breath controller may be sending a MIDI control code event  that the softsynth is interpreting as a pitch bend wheel. Look for "wheel" in the event list or CC5 which is portamento time, or 65 which is portamento on/off.

Soundcard: Komplete Audio 6 But still I do not understand, why the sound is allright while playing, and sounds strange after recording (and playing the record).
