Is it possible to start in loop mode and record track 1, then disable track 1 recording and arm track 2 recording without using the transport stop button?

Any suggestions to allow building up multiple tracks without stopping the loop?

(I have Sonar Producer X2a)

If this is MIDI, there might be a couple of options.  If it is audio, I don't konw.  What are you trying to do?

You can use lanes and make it so that the previous track is muted

Preferences > Project > Record > Store Takes in Separate tracks

That will get your takes recorded in separate tracks, but I'm, not sure about muting previous ones

CJ's method works fine for recording into one track via the Lanes, you can always drag these to new tracks if that's part of your intended workflow

As well as some of the suggestions above you can do what you want but you need to make sure that "Allow arm changes during record" is checked. That's in Prefs---->Project---->Record. There's also an option there "Only for Inputs in Project" that you need to deselect if you want to change inputs without stopping the transport.

Ultimately it will also depend on how well your system is set up.
