  • Quantizing, Crash, and now most of my tracks won't playback. HELP!!!

I've been writing all day and I just ran into an issue that has me worried.  I was trying to quantize a midi part and Sonar crashed.  Now when I bring up my project, every track except for the one I was quantizing is silent.  The Solo, mute and record buttons are "greyed-out" and I cannot turn them back on.  If I start playback, the only track that plays is the one I was quantizing originally.  I have tried going into "Preferences" and back out (per another post), reseting midi and audio, run/stop audio engine and I am getting frustrated.  Anyone have any advice?  Thanks!

Try rebooting your computer.

And are you still on X1c? You should install the X1d patch. Might help with stability issues... but that's more of a general piece of advice.

I am on X1d and I just tried rebooting but it had no effect.

Hello? The reboot was only my first troubleshooting suggestion. If that doesn't work try opening the project in safe mode with all plugs disable then start adding them back in one at a time.

If that doesn't work you can revert back to an earlier version of the project (you have been saving right?) or if worse comes to worse copy the clips into a new project.

D'oh. Simulpost. Sorry. Alright, try Sonar safe mode.

Something else, and this is a shot in the dark... try pulling up the Mix Module in the Control Bar (right click the control bar and select Mix Module until it appears). See if those buttons are grayed out too. If not click them and see if the unjams things. Sounds like something got corrupted.

Here's the Cakewalk doc on Sonar safe mode just in case you need it...

Oh and maybe check to see the tracks didn't get Archived somehow. I've never used that feature though so I'm not sure if that would behave the way you are describing.

Thanks for the responses.  It looks as though they were archived somehow.  I have never used this feature before but I am going to read up on it now.  I really appreciate the help!
