  • Beginning to really dislike EastWest instruments...

I'm in the middle of rebuilding my system from scratch, and am trudging through the delightful task of reinstalling all my libraries. Most go in just fine. But trying to reinstall the EastWest libraries is turning into a nightmare. I've tried to reinstall Hollywood Strings Gold at least 3 times, and every time, when I try to load up a patch, it can't find the samples, or it can find some of the samples but not others, and after multiple tries it finally closes and says "installation error, please reinstall Hollywood Strings Gold". Like that solution is going to appeal to me, at this point. It's not like I use the Hollywood libraries all that much -- other ones (Albion, Sonokinetik, to name a couple) have become my goto sample sets -- so I'm seriously considering ditching the EastWest ones altogether and just getting on with my life. You can do some nice stuff with them, but honestly, life is too short...anyone else have trouble getting the EastWest stuff to work? Funny, I don't recall having this much trouble first time around, and I'm wondering if they've changed how their stuff installs...

I have long struggled with EastWest in a variety of ways :P. Got to the point I wrote them off as a loss and bought replacements. I recommend people steer clear.

Are you using the new Installation Center, Robert?

I am indeed. Going to give it one more shot. 36 hours from now, we'll know how that worked out (I am sitting at about 300 Kb/s download speed).

Gotta admit though, Sonokinetik is having a sale, and "Da Capo" is looking awfully tempting, at the moment...

Update: 4th reinstall worked. Sort of glad, as Hollywood strings is still kind of handy to have around. Had to stop and restart the download a few times to get a decent transfer speed, but once I did it only took a few hours. Wish I knew what the issue was with the previous attempts...
