Rain
This bottle of wine cost me $4.63 at Albertson's (my new favorite grocery, a 15 minute walk from here).

Just for fun, I thought I'd check how much the same bottle cost back home.

That's $23,30 BEFORE Sale Taxes (15%). And not taking into account the average 33% tax on income. Did I mention that, on top of over-taxing you, that system is set up so that hard alcohol and most wines are only available in the state-operated stores (that sweet smell of Communist Russia, uh?) and that their business hours are far from accommodating (well, they are open til 9 Thu-Fri-Sat)...

But then, they have (poor quality) free health care, (poor quality) free education, some of the worst roads in America... Oh well, at least, the person who tells them that they won't be able to see a doctor for 18 months speaks French...

Man I love Las Vegas...

I feel the same way about the UK at times, love the people, don't miss the country. Whenever I get homesick (which is not often) I simply think about the fact that you have to have a license to watch TV.

I'm dissapointed with both of you. Why slag your native country? Does it make you feel better? If Trump gets in you'll both be on watch lists.

And if that other waste of flesh gets in, then this country won't be as nice as Canada or the UK.

(Oops!  There we go, dooming this thread with politics.  Oh well, sorry about that Rain!)

Scotland's nice but I miss where I come from (the Cotswolds in SW England), it'll always be home.

No place is perfect. On the one hand, Canada has some great television. On the other hand, one of the best CBC shows tells you stuff like this...

It's called having a subjective opinion and not being afraid of expressing it. I find patriotism to be a little, how shall I put it, anti-intellectual.

Wow. Even duct tape can't fix that.

Fix what? The fact that I judge things on their own merit?
