Beep, I agree with you.

The manual is simply not meant for bedtime reading, it's simply so sterile with no real world examples and as you say, is full of cross-referencing & duplication, but with a book like Scott's Sonar Power book, you can take it anywhere you want and read it like you would a novel.

I DO find the online help useful at times when I just want to check or look up something, I think this is it's best application.

I did learn a massive amount from Scott's X1 Power but there were some more in depth things kind of left out that I needed to know (sorry Scott... it is still the greatest tut I've come across so far). Also there are so many new things in X2 that obviously aren't included and X2 power is yet to be released. Sadly I don't think I'll be able to afford it right away anyway so I'll just have to muddle through the manual. It is going a lot quicker now. It's all the testing and note taking that's slowing things down. Totally worth it though.

I'll stop whining now. ;-)

And here's a perfect example. I've probably read about 5 different entries on the Snap module so far and just now on page 502 I've learned how to turn off the blasted Smart Grid thingy that changes the snap resolution based on the Zoom resolution. I didn't even know that it was called Smart Grid until this point and it is buried under a pile of other stuff in the Control Bar section.

If anyone is curious you turn off the Smart Grip by right clicking the Snap Resolution dropdown in the Snap Module and uncheck Smart Grid.

Oh and it doesn't actually SAY where to change it. It is inferred and I had to poke around until I found it. Blern!

Which is basically what he's doing by dragging one clip on top of an existing one.

You just have to make sure you've got "Blend Old and New" checked in the Paste Special dialog
No. He clearly shows in post # 4 that there is no overlapping material. If those 100+ midi tracks are all there is in the project, all he needs to do is Ctrl+A > (Create new MIDI track) Ctrl+V / Paste on one track.
Three or four clicks and the job is done. NOTE: I'm using 8.5, but I'm sure it's the same in X.x

Doh.

'Paste to One Track' option in Paste Special.

You're right Kalle. It's been a LONG time since I used that function.

Listen to Rantahu above. Select all, copy, then paste to one track (make sure you select "Paste to one track". Ted
