How do I get the intruments from the Korg nx5r into Cakewalk Home Studio 9?

.ins file? or...
1/4" cables?...
what do you mean by instruments? Patch names? Sounds of the instruments? Onto a track that you can hear? Or into Sonar so you can choose one there?
...and What the Heck is Cakewalk Home Studio 9? Do you mean Pro Audio 9? Or Home Studio 6?

So many questions, so little clarity...

Can anyone point me to the instrument definition file (.ins) for the Korg NX5R. Cakewalk has the NS5R definition in the Korg portion of their file included with Sonar, etc. But this is not directly compatible with the NX5R. Without it I'm having trouble viewing the additional banks (and in most cases, differently named banks and/or programs) in NX5R.

You can find most ins files in the download section of cakewalknet.com. If its not there, it might not exist.

cakewalknet.com is no longer there.  your best bet would be to find a Korg user's group.

I have an NX5R in my rack, as well. I've been using soft synths for so long now I may have this wrong, so bear with me. There was an NX5R ins file at one time. I would not even begin to try to remember where. The workaround for your problem is to download both the NS5R and the Yamaha XG ins files. The NX is basically an NS with an XG daughterboard in it. In order to access the daughterboard sounds you have to set the NX in XG mode. When you are using the NX part of the module, you can assign that track to the NS ins. If I remember correctly, you can only use the module in one mode at a time, either NS or XG. While using the Yamaha XG daughterboard for a track, set that track to read the XG ins. I will look thru my older computers and see if I can find the original NX ins. If I can locate it I will post here and try to get it to you.

Hiya. I realise this is a mega old request but I couldn't find any other help on the internet and I wanted to do it so fixed it myself. The link is below and allows access to the PRG and CMB banks All I did to this download the Korg ins bank from cakewalk which had the NS5R and alter the .instrument parts to reassign the bank numbers correctly. http://en.file-upload.net...835/Korg-NX5R.ins.html
