That is it ! I have had it with Sonar.
7 days with no studio income because of X2 Producer. Nothing but dropouts, ticks, crashes, sudden distortion after countless hours of tweaking and no useful reply from support. X1 wasnt much better but at least it worked for a few hours every day with only a dozen engine stops and a few crashes and a little distortion here and there.

So.... Goodbye... Tomorrow I have to find a new program...
Any suggestions ? I mean GOOD suggestions that works day and night without agony...?

Sorry you are so frustrated.

If you are still here:

1.  What OS and is it patch current?
2.  What audio interface are you using?
3.  For your audio interface, what Sample Rate and ASIO Buffer Size are specified
4.  For your audio interface, what driver version are you using?
5.  In Sonar, what driver mode is specified in Preferences?
6.  In Sonar, what Sample Rate is specified?
7.  In Sonar, what is the Total Round trip Latency showing as?

These issues sound like things that can be resolved with examination and adjustment to various settings, and possibly driver version and operating system maintenance.

Folks here in the forum can help you work through getting things set correctly, so before you truly go - why not give us a shot at helping you to get things working.

I'm truly sorry to hear about your problems with X2.

As Bob has said, these issues should be fixable, so PLEASE come back with more info so that we might be able to help, before the moronic crowds descend upon this thread.

Sounds like a buffer rate issue, which could potentially be an easy fix.  Give us some information, and we can help you out.  Also, have you downloaded the latest updates for Sonar x2?

X2a? What OS? What operations are you performing when sonar crashes? What Sonar preferences have you spent "countless hours tweaking?".

What sort of work are you using sonar for in your studio?

First of all, Sonar X2 is not the reason a Professional Studio is down for 7 days.

Second, the OP is not here looking for help.

If the studio DAW is not working, I can guarantee the studio will not be down for 1 day, let alone 7 days.

A major system problem (which would include hardware failure) is resolved in 30 minutes or less in most circumstances.

Most all of them do except Sonar ... it takes a lot of tweaking to get it to run somewhat stable. And when you do get it to run, you'll get carpal tunnel syndrome from keeping your left hand in a constant state of Ctrl-S.

I would say Reaper would be your best bet at this point. You can use it in evaluation mode without any restrictions until you decide if it's going to work for you or not. It doesn't come with a lot of the doo-dads and foo-fra's that Sonar does, but if you have a lot of 3rd party stuff, you'll be fine.

I'm not saying this to get under anyone's skin, but did you see the guys specs? He should have been able to just install Sonar, fire it up, and take off running. I have a 1st gen i5 Quad Core with 4GB ram and I can do that.

The only thing I can suggest Sitemaster is check your RAM, and make sure nothing is over clocked in your BIOS. When I first built my system, the motherboard came defaulted to overclock the RAM and it gave me all kinds of problems. I never use that Corsair XPS RAM. It's made for overclocking and it's junk. I once got 6 bad sticks of it in a row. I ended up going with the exact part number of RAM that was in my Mobo owners manual, and never had another problem with memory. It ended up being Kingston RAM and IIRC it was $9 bucks for 2GB ... and it was the same speed that the $90 Corsair was ... it just didn't have a pretty heat sink on it.
