Mosvalve
I'm going to re-post this with the hope that it helps you. I was at the end of my rope and was going to buy Protools.

Since upgrading to X2 I started having issues. X1 was solid for me. Issues got worse and worse after the quick fix and a nightmare after X2a. I tried everything I could think of for weeks. After reimaging my pc 3 times with the pc factory image and to no avail of resolution. I bought a copy of Win 7, formatted the drive and installed a clean machine, nothing from the manufacturer. (HP) Installed all my drivers, chipset, MS updates etc. I installed X2 pro, then my plugins. Tested all my projects and she's puring like a kitten right now. Not a glich a click a blip. Knock on wood... I didn't install the quickfix or the X2a patches and won't. If all is working well from here on I will not upgrade or install a single patch. You can have the bells and whistles. I need stability. The only applications I needed to installed on this pc are MS Word, Acrobat 8 pro and Powerdirector that I use to make videos and my virus software. That's it. I will not install anything else on this pc. There were too many variables to pinpoint the cause of problems but I will advise to dedicate your pc to recording and not use it for anything else if that possible. Fortuanately I have a laptop that I use for mail and other apps.

All I can say is with the mutitude of variables that can screw up an application you have to limit them as much as posible. My system is running like a fine tines clock right now. I also want to say that after I got my pc running great I was prompted for Windows updates. There were 4 of them. General security updates and guess what? I got the blue screen after booting. I restored the pc back to a restore point I created and everything is fine. I'm not installing MS updates. I reserved this pc for music only and that's what you really need to do especially if music is part of your living.

By the way, I didn't install the quickfix or X2a and I'm not planing to.

First of all, Sonar X2 is not the reason a Professional Studio is down for 7 days.

Second, the OP is not here looking for help.

If the studio DAW is not working, I can guarantee the studio will not be down for 1 day, let alone 7 days.

A major system problem (which would include hardware failure) is resolved in 30 minutes or less in most circumstances.
#1 - I agree, it is how Sonar has been set up, or hardware, driver issues.

#2 - I don't know the OP, so I can't comment, but I've learnt to give people the benefit of the doubt first. If I can help him enjoy and make a living with Sonar like I, and many others do, then it's worth a try before I ridicule him.

#3 - I am not commenting on the OP's choice of using a relatively new version of a DAW in a Pro studio, without contingency plans. Would I? -No. But I have made a few daft decisions in my life, and am grateful for the people who have bailed me out, rather than poured scorn on me for them.

#4 - I wish that that were true. You are a very lucky man if that is your experience.

Now, this OP may just be a noob venting frustration, or someone with genuine troubles. I'd like to help them, whichever.

Now, they could be a troll. He's been here since 2009, so I'll give him a chance, before I treat him like a t%@!.

Just my tuppence worth..
Kool!

I am so glad you took time to address me personally since you started out by calling me a moron. Just a little suggestion, try reading many of your own posts. You seem to have no trouble calling people some term of endearment such as moron, idiot and the like. I can pull them up for you if you like...

I haven't treated anyone here as a troll. The OP wanted something that just worked without having to fiddle with it. I gave him an example just such a thing.

I actually read threads before posting unlike certain peeps.

If you had taken the time to read the initial post, there is no drawing any conclusions because the OP stated very clearly he was not here for help. Read his first post including his system specs.

Regardless of whether it is Sonar or some other software that the OP is using is irrelevant. I could care less what DAW he chooses to use. The software is not the reason his studio is down and not making money.

He can vent all he wants, I can understand frustration and needing to get it out. Virtually everyone on the forum has vented at one time or another including myself.

I at no time called to OP anything nor made any accusations against him.  You on the otherhand said the OP may be a Troll, a noob.
What I did call him on, was claiming his software was the reason for his studio being down.

I stated what I know to be fact and not dumb luck.
It is not luck that keeps a studio running, nor is it luck that makes a system stable.

Furthermore, if the OP ends up wanting help, I'd be happy to assist.

It is ironic that you have called me names, insinuated I have said things I did not, have assumed I was here to attack the OP, and yet, you are the one who has done the very things you have accused.

I think you better read your #2 again. Read it out loud and carefully.

BTW, because this is a text message, you have no way of knowing if I'm pissed, laughing my butt off, or serious as heck.

You seem to be selective of who you do #2 on. <- Yep pun intended.

peace!

Kevo I am trying hard to find where JB called you or anyone a moron.

I would be shocked if he did. Its not his style. I was happy when he reposted my post because I consider him a very polite member. In that it was a fellow I respect agreeing at least to a degree.

I also have no issue with you. In fact I thought your posts above were funny and good natured.

What bothers me is I think highly of JB and you too. I don't want either of you to be upset with the other.  I also think there is no reason to be.

I believe this is due to a misunderstanding only. Goodness knows I have been often misunderstood.

Going back to the beginning of the thread, your picture of a tape recorder showed your willingness to help?  How?

I am sorry if I misinterpreted your honest offer of succor.

If you read the initial thread TITLE again, slowly and carefully, you would see that it could be construed as a genuine cry for help.

I read the thread titles as well as the posts..

I'm glad you are willing to help the OP.  Perhaps you could post a picture of a four track reel to reel, too.  Or maybe a screenshot of Ableton..

I never said you had called the OP names.  Nor did I call him names.  I was merely pointing out worst case scenarios, and saying it was worth giving him the benefit of the doubt, even if these things were true.  I'm sorry if you didn't follow that.  I will try to be more clear next time

As for you last point - it's "Of whom you do #2"  Object, not subject.

Happy music making.

Sorry, John, I  only saw your post after I had posted mine.

You are, as ever, right.

I didn't come here to pick a fight, only to help.

I apologise if I caused offense.  I was perhaps defending the indefensible.

Thank you for your usual level-headedness.

JB if you want a laugh go to the BFD 2 thread and read my response to Danny at the end. At least I hope its funny.

Believe me sometimes things don't go as well as we wish. But there is always another day and a new start.

<sigh>

John,

I am not upset with jb.

Nor do I have anything that I need to apologize for.
You got gist of what was communicated as well as most others who read the thread.

I had no attitude when I began in this thread, and I still do not have one.
I cannot help that a forum member decided to make a personal attack.

jp is obviously upset so I won't respond any further as things would just deteriorate further.

Back on topic <whatever it was>

Was it nike shoes? I forget!
