Bub
I've had nothing but good things to say about X2. I've repeatedly said it works great on my system.
Why don't you big talkers attack Danny? He's got his hand on Ctrl-S all the time now too ... he said so in another thread just the other day that meandered on for about 5 or 6 paragraphs. As a matter of fact ... he's said more bad about Sonar lately than I have.
See ... the difference between me and Danny is, he'll actually come to you two a-hole's houses and beat you in to a bloody pulp, like you deserve. But me, I'll just sit here and talk you to tears. That's why you don't bust his balls like you do mine. You have no spine.
I can vouch for all of this as well. I definitely have had my share of legit gripes and have never been afraid to post about them. I think the key to how I delivered that post you're mentioning was, I really didn't rant about anything explained my issues as well as being sympathetic to the OP there as well as others who have had a hard time with Sonar. I sort of just spoke it the way I've lived it in all the years of using this product. There are definitely changes that need to be made. I think the more we voice them in a caring way, the more the bakers may at least look into what we're talking about.
Yep also true about ctrl+s. Especially true for me when using Sonar 64. That bitbridge server thing just doesn't like me. That said, if you keep everything as "64" as possible, I fair well with it. Sonar on its own for 64 bit using its plugs has never crashed on me. It's those darn 3rd party plugs that seem to bite me. Sonar X2 after this last patch, hasn't given me any issues other than UAD 2's newest update (which I uninstalled and reverted to an older one) and ARC was going ballistic in X2. I had to use a later version with a work-around, but no more crashes so far with 32 bit. But I'll make no bones about it....Cakewalk/Sonar has forced me to do more stuff to my pc to make things work smoothly than any other DAW besides Cubase 3 and PT for Windows. Cubase and PT for Windows were the worst experiences of all time for me.
Oh please Bub (said in a sincere begging voice) don't make them come after me. LOL! I've been doing so good! :)
I did go to another DAW. Paid some bucks for it too. I upgraded to X2, and it sits on my HDD. Actually, I lied ... I did a fresh format with all MS updates and it's gone now. I just have X2. X2 has been working great so far and I have no intention of installing the A patch, especially after reading all the posts about it here lately.
Regarding my X1 troubles, and ya know, I hate to say "my X1 troubles" because so many had the same problems ... we can sit here and troubleshoot my system till we're both blue in the face ... but here are the facts ...
On a fresh install of my OS with all updates to my PC, I can install X1 and it simply will not work.
On a fresh install of my OS with all updates to my PC, I can install X2 and it shows no sign of the troubles I had with X1.
If you still conclude that the problem is the PC, you need to find another hobby.
(That's not directed at you Danny, but whoever reads it.)
And I don't blame you one bit for that. I remember reading all the posts of problems you had which some I too had experienced for myself. For a while there, I thought for sure people thought we were crazy and the only ones experiencing that whole PC quirkiness. Then others started to chime in about it thankfully. Glad X2 is working well for you....I also remember you posting about it being good for you. If you don't need that X2a patch, definitely stay away from it. I had a few issues with the original release, but the hotfix helped me out a lot. I didn't put it on my good boxes until the X2a patch...and so far so good. But yeah, I'm still permanently in ctrl+s with my left hand just in case. My biggest thing for how I work is to stay away from 64 bit. I got powerful enough boxes where I don't need it anyway...so 32 works good enough for me. :)
Nah, no problem....I didn't take it as directed at me. You have the right to tell it the way you lived it man. There's nothing worse than spending money on something that doesn't work right. Then you spend your time trying to fix it, get the help of credible others and it still doesn't work. That's reason to vent for sure and definitely a reason to jump ship.
