Wow, "news to me" that Billy died. so sorry to hear that. He was a great member of the forum community. To Andy the OP, the one "new attitude" that I noticed (after having been away for a year or so, getting married and just being away from music for a while, but now coming back), is that a lot of the newbs are STRIDENT "Sonar is perfect" people. Any problem that someone asks about, will be followed by ten posts (from people who never used older versions of Cake) saying "There is not a bug! MY sonar works perfectly! You must have something wrong with your PC, config, or installation! Cake is always flawless always and never has a problem! YOU must be the dope!" Haha; it is silly sometimes. Three versions later, they will "get honest" and admit that certain features of OLDER versions were less than perfect. BUT, when it is a brand new version, it is always Perfect. Guess it is the honeymoon phase. In the future, when we are all playing with X5, there will be PLENTY of honesty about "Yeah, I guess X2 had some issues way back in 2013". But ask about it NOW and you will hear from the newbs that it is PERFECT. Best, Ed

as the user base has grown, more types of personalities have entered the forum.  free speech.  troll frustration.  s1 defectors.  there are still just as many awesome helpful people, no more actually.  but we will never be perfect like the s1 forum.

i ****ed till the cows came home about the issues with limiter PC , drop outs and crashing that comes with sonar x1 and even more with x2, in my opinion 8-5 was far more solid. but  what i found out quickly is that, some folks have better luck than others , but for what sonar lacks this forum makes up. im a pain in the butt as sonar support knows, but folks like Cj and john and many others even when i  was ackin like a wha wha, they took the time to walk me threw.
 so even though there a tuff crowd they still are more helpfull than the other forums around
 this is why im now back and runni  with x2. this forum has made the difference. so i play nice now when commenting.love you cake,even if you overcharge for content
