This actually got approved. Note that self induced vomiting accomplishes the same goal without surgery and with close to 100% of the ingested calories in a lot less than the 10 minutes required with this device.

Wow... I'd much rather vomit than voluntarily wear a colostomy bag. Really???? Why not just run the tube straight to your butthole and wear diapers. Sheesh...

How about eating less? Also save on money spent for food that you will shortly eliminate using this device. Maybe more self-control is the answer.

The FDA is famous for NOT approving preventive measures, only "cures" after the fact.

This is just a gastrostomy tube running backwards. For those with an incompetent esophagus a g-tube may be a viable alternative to starvation, but where is the market for this? After some thought it occurs to me that the people who would want to have this option available are not obese patients, but the people you did not elect who run the private insurance industry for profit, who are finding themselves under pressure to provide really expensive alternatives like bypass surgery and gastric banding as it becomes clear that those methods improve metabolic control in diabetes etc. Now they can say, we will not cover a roux-en-Y, but if you want a hole in your side, we can arrange that for cheap. Take it or leave it fatty, and tell your lawyer he doesn't have a case anymore. Bonus for everyone!

ProTip: Want to lose weight? Eat less, stop eating at night and learn to cook with real ingredients.

Source: I lost 120 pounds over 16 months and have been holding steady at my goal weight since I hit it by doing exactly that. Simple.
