X3 does not need to be activated via a server. Just make sure you have all your files and go for it.
Make sure you get your serial and registration number from your online account.
Several users have posted similar questions about X3 (and earlier) authorization and appear to have forgotten the procedure. Maybe there should be a sticky about it.
