oK this has happened a few times now. 

I try and import a wav file onto a track and it gets put at bar 1801!!

This happens with all kinds of files. single hits as well as track stems.

WTF is going on. I checked preferences but I couldn't find anything at all... this makes no sense!

It might be the "Always Import Broadcast Waves at Their Timestamp" setting in Preferences|File|Audio Data. Needs to be unchecked.
