for the life of me i cant get sonar to see the dam thing. Every other Daw sees it but Sonar i cant figure it out. it Scans it i can see its seeing it when it scans but i cant insert it.
 
any help would be much appreciated

Are you using "custom layouts" for your plugins?  If so - you have to manually add it to any custom plugin layouts you create.   (That's one reason I just don't even bother with custom layouts).
 
I don't know the plugin per se, but is it an FX or a synth?   If it's an FX, you can only insert it via the FX bin(s).
If it's a synth, use the Synth Rack to insert it.
 
 

I have Sonar 8.5 64 bit, and the Demo of Catanya and I had a similar problem.  Well I emailed the company and I was told that it's not 64 bit ready.  It should in fact work with the 32 bit version of Sonar though.

make sure you run vst scan, when you have it installed correct, you insert a soft synth then insert catanya go the the synth track properties change the midi in to catanya omni , Load up a patch draw a chord in catanya and play.. follow there video for sonar on there home page, It works perfect here, only known issue is inserting mulitpule instances..but theres a work around and a fix is in the works, If you still cant find it go to program files/cakewalk/ vst folder and look to see if the .dll is there. could be in a folder called cubase vst too .. if ut not there copy the .dll to the vst folder in cakewalk.. you shouldnt have to do this but never know with computers today. when you get it up and running you will enjoy the software alot... I do.

From your question, it's hard to tell how you're inserting Catana... as a soft synth, or as an effect?  Can you see it as a soft synth?

It needs to be a soft synth, and follow what djjhart mentions above.

I really like it, as well, but depending on what I'm doing, it has shown to be a little flakey and picky.  My Sonar trouble ticket for multiple instances has been flagged as "under investigation", but not sure what that means.

thanks for the input guys but my problem is that sonar scans it but i cant insert it when i go to insert it i dont see catanya anywhere. i even installed it on the desktop in a folder and manually added sonar to scan that folder and same thing it doesnt see it so i can click to bring it in

Mine is installed under ...Cakewalk\vst\Catanya

When it unzips, did you specify a directory under cakewalk\vst?  I had manually put in "Catanya" in the 'zip to' folder, under Cakewalk\vst
 
I'm not 100% sure if sonar cares where you place vst's, but may be worth a shot.

After you scan the vst's you need to make sure its in your plugin manager ,  .. If you dont see Catanya in the menu to selectas vst , them you have the .dll file in the wrong place and it should be in C: / Program files/ cakewalk/vstplugins .. maybe it cloud be an issue because its a demo ..
