Hi there, I installed catanya into my vstplugins folder where all my other vstplugins are,
re-scanned a few times, then rescanned ALL plugins(I checked all 3 scanning options)

But I can seem to be able to see Catanya as an available midi input on any of the midi tracks.

anyone has an idea why is this happening?

I'm running Sonar X1b 64 but on Win7 64 ultimate.

In the options for inserting a synth, you must choose to Enable MIDI Out. It can also be done after the fact, but I believe the method has changed from 8.5.3 to X1, so I  don't want to give you inaccurate info on how to do that. It used to be just right-clicking on the synth on the synth rack, but IIRC, that does not work any more.

That said, SONAR still has issues with managing data from virtul MIDI outputs on soft synths, which I believe make Catanya (or more than one instance of it) unuseable.

I bought Catanya and had to get a refund because it doesn't work with 64 bit SONAR. That was about 6 months ago though, I don't know if they've brought out a 64 bit version in the meantime?

I had to install 32 bit Sonar along side 64 bit Sonar so that I could use some plugs that wouldn't work with the 64 bit version, Cantanya was one of them.

what about using JBridge?

I couldn't get to Catanya in the Plugin Manager in order to set it to use JBridge.

I would see it get scanned but it would never appear in the VST lists until I installed 32 bit Sonar.

I have settled into a system of doing all my midi work in 32 bit and then migrating to 64 bit to take advantage of extra ram when starting to load up softsynths and FX etc.

Any news about Catanya 64-bit version? I have Sonar 8.5 PE and X1 PE on my Win7. Can I install a 32-bit version of Sonar X1? (I installed it a long time ago and forgot if it asked for 32-bit version of X1...)

I just happened to be looking for updated info on getting Catanya to work in Sonar. I'm running Sonar X1 Producer Expanded 64-bit and I have Catanya visible as a soft synth through jBridge. This edition of Sonar does now appear to recognize this 32-bit VST plugin. I used jBridge, however, just to see if it made a difference. I still can't get Catanya to do anything in Sonar.

As another forum member in this thread said, Sonar apparently can't see it as a soft synth even if if it's configured that way, which it should be, so it doesn't show up as a MIDI input.

I don't think this has anything to do with 7Aliens, it's a Cakewalk issue. Catanya works swell in other DAWS such as Reaper, which is the option I tend to use to employ it. Reaper also has many more MIDI and audio I/O features than Sonar.

If you insert through the track inspector FX option as a soft synth, it will disrupt the MIDI track and you won't hear a thing until you click the blue button to turn it off as a soft synth FX.

I've e-mailed 7Aliens to ask about a 64-bit version of Catanya.

Never did hear back from 7Aliens about a 64-bit version of Catanya.

I am able to report, however, that thanks to jBridger Catanya does at last work in SONAR X1d Producer Expanded. SONAR X1d, however, unlike SONAR X1c, no longer recognizes Catanya or 7Aliens' other 32-bit plugin, W2 Harmonizer.

By using jBridger I was able to get SONAR X1d to recognize Catanya and it now works beautifully! Happy arpeggiating I say.
