TouchDAW on Android works nicely with SONAR, although V-Control may have more features... haven't tried it.

TouchDAW does indeed work - I have it on my Android tablet and use it mostly as remote transport control from across the room in my home studio.  I've worked with some of the other features, but not much.

As for SONAR running on other OS's in the future, that's not something I can't comment on.

Excuse my English if I'm mistaken, but doesn't two negatives make one positive? So why don't you?

What version should we be using? I've had this a while and I don't see an upgrade... Thx

The description of the free version of V-Control says it will arm tracks, but I don't see that. There are Mute and Solo buttons only. No Record buttons for tracks or transport. Is this a limitation of the free version? [If so, that's perfectly reasonable.]

The paid version you can do all of that. Mute, Solo, record and etc. but so far I can't find UNDO. Anyone else find Undo anywhere. Unfortunately, it's hard for me to work without undo!

This has been out for about three weeks now, Andrew, have the free version working from day one just to test it.

It is the best virtual controller of them all, I've tried Touch Daw on Android and it worked great, except it looked like it had escaped from the 80's.  I mean it was monochrome but hey it works.

AC7 Core really good, nice looking but confusing and not much usability, yea you could mix with it but little else.  I own it but what do you expect for 7$.  The other problem with this program is it's a little confusing with it's multiple screens.  I own it''s cousin for the Iphone as well now this is cool because I can control my CUE mix software that comes with my MOTU ULTRA lite now if I was going to use my ULTRA LITE  for a gig and it will probably happen, the the AC7 mini would be my go to solution.

Finally and this is a big call but it can and I think it will destroy the low end controller marker, Behringer and the like.

The thing that makes the V-Contol so special is the V-Window, for the first time a way to control effects and VST'i without the need of a 2nd controller.  Amazing.

As I say I don't own the 50 buck version, just the free but I had the V-Window up and running, although I could't use it because you can't with the free version but this is revolutionary.

What V-Control have done, is combine a control surface with a splashback type program, I own Splashback too.

Disclaimer: I am not going to offer opinions of software I have not used or heard.

So all in all Cake good work in getting this done, nice to see you announce this Andrew, may be you could offer a couple as a prize

Finally for all those conspiracy theorist's, guess what there is no other tablet for music and music makeing, I have tried Android, I'm glad I was able to change from my Xoom to an IPad.  I hate, hate having to say this but for this is sort of thing, there can only be on, ok that was Highlander but it's true.  You can't: the permutations for different codes, slots (eg: slotting your I-Pad into a mixer, The Alesis I-Dock or Behringer I-Axe) is nigh on impossible, you need one device because the end user, you are going to benefit.

I can't see into the future maybe some other company will challange the dominance of the I-Pad, maybe the Windows tablet but I don't see this happening and in fact I am already hearing rumbles because how do you catch up with a company that has been making apps for three years.

It's like asking the tortise to catch the hare, now if the hare has a nap because we all know the story, it could happen but I don't see this hare doing that and in fact I see the hare only getting faster.

Final word on this, they're better tablets on the market than the Ipad and lets be clear the Ipad is not that good not even it's new one, it still lags behind a lot of the other offerings but as the music makeing tablet, it will dominate for some time to come or at least until Hadrian takes over Apple, as he has done at Avid.

Note: Hadrian was a Roman emperor, about 90 AD, he decided to stop conquest and consolidate the Roman empire because he could forsee that there were not enough men or soldiers to keep the empire under control.

So Andrew how about that prize

I bet there will be a great android music making option coming. Android apps started much later but they are moving at a very fast speed.

I think Android tablets will meet and/or exceed apple in the near future. There is a lot more companies working on android tablets than the one company that does ipad.

We shall see!

Hey Andrew/Seth

Can you respond to FastBikerBoy's question about when we can expect to see the Mackie dll update?

It's fantastic you guys are working with third parties to make sure you have a presence in the iPad arena- it is such as useful tool as BenMMusTech makes clear, but V-Control can't fire on all four cylinders until you guys sort that dll and get to the position where the EQ and Comp buttons fire up their respective Pro Channel components.

I can see why Cakewalk (Roland) wouldn't want to invest money in putting together iPad versions of the V-Studio kit as you guys may loose out on sales of your hardware (although you could argue that you are targeting 2 different ends of the budget scale here), but by supporting the Mackie protocol you keep all those guys out there with compatible hardware happy and also make us iPad users really happy too. In fact, I would go so far as to say that if you're not proactive in making sure you have fully functioning iPad control surfaces that in the long term you may loose potential customers- I think having an iPad (and probably other tablet) control surface(s) will be a key decision point as to what DAW to choose in the future. In any case, given such a competitive market can you risk not taking this stuff seriously?. I am thinking of your future as well as ours

Also (and to answer the riojazz question) isn't there an issue with the Record implementation on the channel strips- it arms and disarms recording for a pure audio and pure midi track but doesn't work properly for instrument tracks where the soft syth midi and VST plugin (audio output) are combined. I am assuming this is a dll issue as Sonar just isn't responding correctly to the Mackie protocol in the case of an instrument track (maybe instrument tracks came in after the last dll update?).

mugician41- the UNDO feature is on the edit panel under Multi Panel | Edit Panel

Cheers
