Lee, the specific question I was asking was, does the paid version have record / arm track support (since the free version does not), and the answer is yes. I haven't recorded with it yet, though.

I downloaded the free V-Controller this morning and got my iPad and DAW on the same network.  I could also select Sonar the VControl window but nothing happens when I try to control the console.  Any ideas here or would this question be better directed to V-Controller's site?

Thanks.

Hey Andrew/Seth

Can you respond to FastBikerBoy's question about when we can expect to see the Mackie dll update?

It's fantastic you guys are working with third parties to make sure you have a presence in the iPad arena- it is such as useful tool as BenMMusTech makes clear, but V-Control can't fire on all four cylinders until you guys sort that dll and get to the position where the EQ and Comp buttons fire up their respective Pro Channel components.

I can see why Cakewalk (Roland) wouldn't want to invest money in putting together iPad versions of the V-Studio kit as you guys may loose out on sales of your hardware (although you could argue that you are targeting 2 different ends of the budget scale here), but by supporting the Mackie protocol you keep all those guys out there with compatible hardware happy and also make us iPad users really happy too. In fact, I would go so far as to say that if you're not proactive in making sure you have fully functioning iPad control surfaces that in the long term you may loose potential customers- I think having an iPad (and probably other tablet) control surface(s) will be a key decision point as to what DAW to choose in the future. In any case, given such a competitive market can you risk not taking this stuff seriously?. I am thinking of your future as well as ours

Also (and to answer the riojazz question) isn't there an issue with the Record implementation on the channel strips- it arms and disarms recording for a pure audio and pure midi track but doesn't work properly for instrument tracks where the soft syth midi and VST plugin (audio output) are combined. I am assuming this is a dll issue as Sonar just isn't responding correctly to the Mackie protocol in the case of an instrument track (maybe instrument tracks came in after the last dll update?).

mugician41- the UNDO feature is on the edit panel under Multi Panel | Edit Panel

Cheers

Lee

Sorry, I don't know about the current situation of Mackie Control Support.

Rimshot, here are some links that may help you. Also, I posted the following answer at the Neyrinck forum in response to another question.

http://forum.neyrinck.com/

1. make sure the green N icon is in the system tray. If not, double-click on the Ney-Fi app icon. If you don't have that, reinstall the Neyrinck driver.

2. Look in SONAR's Edit, Preferences, MIDI Devices. Do you see V-Pan 1, V-Pan 2 and V-Control in BOTH the Inputs and Outputs panels? If so, make sure each of these six entries checked.

3. Then go back to MIDI Control Surfaces. Do you have an entry for Mackie Control-1 (or 2 etc. if you have more than one control surface)? If so, then click on the little downward triangle for its In Port entry, and select V-Control. Do the same for Out Port. Click on Apply then Close.

Then the app on your iPad should work.

The VWindow does not work with the free version, I think.  Otherwise why would you pay 50 bucks for the app.

Sorry RimShot.

Hey Cake were is my prize, I have been helping everyone with this V-Control.

I'd like the concrete limiter please

I Have a few question if anyone could answer..

I realize you need a Network or wifi to get these apps to work, Is there a way to set these apps up without connecting my daw to the internet.

And is there app I can use for a XY pad to my Iphone?

I think the route Im going to go if not is going to be a touch panel monitor, what I'm trying to do is control an XY pad on a virtual synth without using a mouse, I know korg makes the nano pad which would be my last resort .But a cool app on my iphone without making my daw vulnerable to the net would be cool ..

 Thanks John

You can set up WiFi in your house without connecting to the Internet. There was a thread about this on the Neyrinck forum (see link in my post above). What I recall from using the free V-Control app briefly was that you do have a V-Window, but you do not have the Edit window that allows you real control over SONAR's buttons, function keys etc. The V-Window allows you to put whatever you want into it, so it could be the computer's main Windows display, allowing you to load SONAR in the first place, for example. I should be clear that all I use V-Control for is remote playback of tracks for practicing in another room: just transport control, select track, and levels. I have barely begun to experiment with more intricate functions. One reason I use the Edit window is to avoid having to make multiple presses of the rewind button. With the Edit window, I programmed a function key (F8) to go Home (back to the start of the track).

I wouldn't worry about connecting to the internet, I have my main DAW connected to the internet all the time even when I am recordging, it's all myth's and fairies about some great big nasty virus is going to eat your computer.  Just don't accept that offer of marriage from that russian saying she is a princess.

You are looking at program called Touch OSC $5.49, I haven't got this yet I know it has an XY controller, now when I tried to get it to work with Android, it would't I think thay have fixed it there is now a little computer connector app.  So give it a go and report back because I want this program myself.

Est Touch OSC is really from what I have seen of the Android version good at controlling your knobs, not your faders, your knobs say on your synths.

Still checking my email's for that link to my concrete limiter, nope not there.

This advice stuff is hard work you know.
