Now I'm actually considering buying an iPad for this app alone.
My question is can I get away with the smallest GB pad or does it require the 32 or 64 version?

Is there an app like this for the iPhone 4s? I really only want it for arming a track and transport control.

Mike

unless you are looking for an excuse frankly its daft to spend $550 on this functionality...lol.. note that with your iphone there are a number of apps, some free, that will give those simple functions...

Yeah Ian, I pretty much just wanted an iPad.

Glad I got one too. I only use it for recording type stuff.
My latest use has been for loading all my Groove3 and SWA videos on it and being able to watch them anywhere, anytime.
I travel between my house and my girlfriends house all the time and it's nice to grab my pad and headphones and hit the road.
That way while she goes off on one of her many cleaning frenzies I can watch some more of Karls 9 hour video .
Garage Band gets a little attention too and V-Control Pro is very handy to have over by the keyboards and drums too.

Expensive and overkill?........ Of course.
Fill my G.A.S needs?............. Yeah, for a few days lol.

Did you ever get this resolved?  I can get it to connect to the computer also, cut have not control.  Everything is configured as listed above.

Thanks!

Try deleting ctrlsurface.dat and ttseq.ini in your Sonar directory with Sonar closed.
Start Sonar and it will recreate these files.
Add V-Control as a controller surface.

I had been using AC-7 for some time with no issues but I really disliked the fact that I could not see the meter levels in real time. I just got V-Control today and had no problem installing it and getting it work with Sonar. I can see the meter levels with the V-Window but one thing that troubles me is that I cannot see the same information with the normal console view. Any hints how to enable this utility so that I don't have to use the V-Window to see the real time audio level info?

I found the solution to my problem. I am assuming you have it working already and it is defined as a Mackie Control surface. All you have to do is go to the Utilities menu and then select Mackie Control 01 (or whatever it is that is associated with this) and then in the options turn metering display on. It defaults to "off." It then works great. Very cool stuff.

maybe this is covered but I can't get the free version to work.  I'm using X1 on a laptop.  I installed the newest Neyrinck utility on the laptop.  I have the newest OS for the iPad.  I notice in the settings for VControl the computer is set to "None".  I can't get this to change.  Any suggestions?

I'm not in front of SONAR to give the steps, but there is a screen in Preferences where you select your devices, and the V-Control must first be selected there for it to appear as a pull-down choice in Control Surfaces.

The V-Control is not an option.  I used "Mackie Control" per the instructions (as the control surface).  I do see the V-Control in the next two boxes.  But still not working.

I am using the paid version so I am not sure if that is what would make a difference.

Just as an aside, I got AC-7 Core to show the meters by changing the same option in the Utilities menu for the Mackie Control Surface as for V-Control for those of you that only want to (or have) spend $7 instead of $50.
