Basically they say you can use it as a USB mike. Sonar and most DAW software don't play well with USB mikes because of the ASIO limitation. It's just not worth the hassle. Best to use the Zoom for what it does best and buy a good old XLR cabled mike to use with your DAW.

Options are:
Monitor through the Zooms headphone ( if it works? ) 
Record in WDM/K mode ( might mess up other things) 
Transfer a bed track from the song into the Zoom and use it as a 4 track recorded to overdub using the mikes. 
PS there is an X2 forum with more user traffic.


Ahh, I thought the Zoom was an interface thingy sort of like the Line 6 Pod. I didn't realize it was one of those hand held recorders.
I know they make a few different models. I thought he was asking about a different type.

Ya, I just got the Tascam DR 40 which is about the same device.
The USB port is for file transfers only.  Tascam doesn't even mention using it as a mike. 

The whole idea is to NOT need a computer to record 4 tracks. 
   
I can't see wanting to use it as a mike unless your hurting for one.
