  • Replace all audio clips in track?

Is it possible to select all clips in a track and replace them with another audio file? For example, say I have a kick drum sample on a track (hundreds of clips for the entire song) and I decide I want to change the sample later, is there a feature where I can select all clips and replace them with a different sample? I know I could use something like Battery, or even Sonar's own Session Drummer, but I really prefer working with audio files vs MIDI. Thanks :)

I think do delete all the clips you need to select them all and hit delete.  How I would approach that is either mute that track or archive it and create another track.

You can also go to tracks -> wipe track(s) to delete all of the clips in a track(s) . Oops...I should have read the original post.

I think OP wants to replace all the current kick hits with a new kick sound.

Select the kick track > Choose Audio Transients in the track's control pane from the Edit Filter. Now all your kick hits should be highlighted. You may have to manually highlight lower volume hits.

Then you replace all those with your new kick sample. I don't know exactly how to do this yet but...

Seth and Brandon do this in the drum production webinar...

Cheers.

You can do it with audio snap copying the transients and paste them to a new track by "Copy Midi" then replace them with SD3 samples or your own.

I think you will have to bounce the clips first on that track for the copy to work correctly (I could be wrong on that)

Slate Digital trigger is awesome for this.

Thanks for all the replies, but I'm not trying to delete the clips, I'm trying to replace the audio. Let's say I have 16 bars of a 4/4 kick (call it Kick1.wav). That would be 64 separate clips, one on every beat. Some time later I want to change all the kick samples to Kick2.wav without using any MIDI functions. Imagine right-clicking an audio clip and having a "replace sample" option.

I've looked for it in many places to no avail. I'm afraid there is no such feature at this point in time, but I thought I'd ask :)

Dude... watch that webinar. Audiosnap will do what you want. I'd detail the process but as I said I haven't gotten that far yet. In your case you would just replace the section you want kick 2 to be and leave the rest alone... or you could do it in two tracks which might be better anyway because then you could mix/EQ both kicks separately.

Cheers.

or you could just record the second kick in the section you want and crop the original kick out. Even easier would be to use the Step Sequencer or create a Groove clip and stretch it out. And MIDI will use audio samples (Session Drummer uses real samples) so I'm not sure why you'd avoid it for a kick.

Lots of ways to do this if the project is in time.

aaaand you can bounce the MIDI clip to audio and it will behave exactly like an audio clip... because it is an audio clip.
