My old guitar player had a GT 10 (or 8... I forget now) and it was the best multi effects processor I've ever heard. The newer models supposedly blow that one away. I don't think you can go wrong with one those. They're just very pricey.

That's pricey? I don't think so. I had a GT 10 for a quite a while and it was OK.

GT 100 would be a step up according to Roland\Boss, but from what I have read it's more bells and whistles than improvements ove the GT 10 sound. But that's only from reviews I have read.

I have always liked Boss processors-Used a GX700 many moons ago for many years and made a good living with it. Actually it's in my closet- I don't have the heart to sell it.

Have you tried the software stuff in Sonar? The THd2 or whatever the heck the letters are. Lot's of good reviews. But might be latency issues with that

Anyway, I think Boss stuff is always good compared to the rest-but that's a very huge debate there. especially the FX.

Can't really go wrong with it as Beepster mentioned.

They're pricey to me  because I'm broke (the GT 100s were like $500 last I checked and earlier models were at least $200) but yeah... good value for sure.

TH2 is indeed awesome but it's still not quiiiite as good as hardware solutions yet. Besides... with a GT-? it's a heck of a lot better/simpler for live or when micing an amp in the studio.

I'd say any guitar player who can afford one should choose the GT over any other pedal board.

Cheers.

First, part of the point of having the GT 10 or 100 is so you DON't use an amp and can record direct. No offense but there is a lot more out there in that same price range. and the OP did not say he was broke. You said you were.

A good amp will cost  you that and more. LIne 6 HD500 gets rave reviews. No offense again, but are you a guitar player or a KB player or neither? Serious question.

I disagree with your anaylysis. You can get an 11 Rack for about the same $$ on Ebay and it blows the Boss crap away. And I love the boss stuff-but it is what it is. Same old COSM modeling. And I hate Line 6 and Avid products but they are what they are also. The best thing about the Boss stuff is the FX as I mentioned.

There is plenty out there. How many pedal boards\rack guitar processors have you owned.

I apoligize to the OP for going off topic a bit but I would like to help him get the best info he can.

David-Yes the GT 100 would do you fine, the 11 rack will do better but you would need a midi foot controller. The HD500 is geared (IMHO) more towards a heavier rock sound-had one for a few weeks. The zoom stuff IMHO are toys.

Besides what I have now, the Boss Gt 10 was the best all in one unit I owned and used for a good length of time.

. So now we have come full circle whew!

I've been playing for 23 years and gigged constantly for most of that time. I've played a lot of gear and I know what I like.

No offense but I don't need your opinions on my opinions, TYVM.

You might want to check out the GT-100 forums on Boss GT Central.  It's an independent site and a lot of people post samples of what they have done.
